MLB: Bayside Stories - an 09 San Francisco Giants Dynasty
After asking for a trade a week or so ago, the Giants granted Bengie Molina his wish. The Giants cut ties with Molina, along with Randy Winn were traded in a deal that involved the Giants, Blue Jays, and the Indians. Bengie Molina was hitting under .200 and lost his starting job for the Giants; Pablo Sandoval moved back to Catcher while Dallas McPherson moved back to 3rd Baseman. Randy Winn was two for his last 41 for the Giants and his average nearly dropped 40 points in two weeks. Randy Winn had been one of the sparks for the Giants offense, as he provided the Giants with a threat on the base paths. Both Winn and Molina have only one year left on their contract, so the Giants were able to trade them.
The Giants were able to acquire two guys who were highly touted prospects. One is 3rd Baseman Andy Marte, who was backing up Mark DeRosa at 3rd for the Cleveland Indians. Marte has been known for his great power, but also his terrible patience at the plate. The Giants were also able to snag Bryan Bullington, who was playing for the Blue Jays AA team. The Giants management believes that they can turn Marte and Bullington's careers around. Only time will tell. Here is the full terms of the 3-team deal.

Game Story
The Giants went on the road to face the Cleveland Indians. They were able to get out to an early lead in the 3rd inning, as the score was 3 to 0. The Indians fought fearlessly and came back twice in the game. They came back in the 5th inning as they tied the game up at 3. The Giants scored 3 in the 6th and the Indians scored 4 in the 7th to have the lead by a run.
The Giants went into the 9th inning down a run. Delmon Young was the first batter of the inning and he was facing Rafael Betancourt. Betancourt got in his windup and delivered a fastball in to Young and Young absolutely crushed the ball into the left-field stands to tie the game up. The Giants weren't able to get any more runs in the 9th, so the Indians had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the inning. Noah Lowry came in the game for the Giants and faced rookie Matt LaPorta. LaPorta hadn't hit a homer yet in his career. Lowry gave him a curveball up in the zone and LaPorta easily hit the ball into centerfield for the walk-off homer. What a way to end the game for LaPorta. His first career homer was a walk-off homer.
