The first year that Oregon State went to the Rose Bowl was at the 1942 Rose Bowl but it was not held in Pasadena. Because on December 7, 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, bringing the United States into World War II. Due to fears of a possible attack on the west coast, the game was moved to Durham, North Carolina to become a home game for the Duke Blue Devils. Oregon State won the game 20-16, and it still stands as Oregon State's only Rose Bowl victory. Oregon State would play in two more Rose Bowls in 1957 in a loss to Iowa 35-19 and in 1965 would lose to Michigan 34-7. The Beavers have not been back since.
Terry Baker
QB Terry Baker is the only player from Oregon State to win the Heisman Trophy. Baker won the coveted award in 1962 and was the first player west of Texas to win the award. In addition to winning the Heisman, Baker also won the Maxwell award and was named Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year in 1962. He played for Oregon State from 1960-1962 but his senior year was his career year. That year Baker threw for 3,476 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,503 yards and 15 touchdowns. Baker was a dual threat QB way ahead of his time. His 99-yard touchdown run at the 1962 Liberty Bowl against Villanova were the only points scored in the game and will always be an NCAA record which can only be tied. In addition to being an incredible athlete on the football field Baker was actually recruited to play at Oregon State as a basketball player where he also led the Beavers to the Final Four in 1963 as a point guard, making him the only player in NCAA history to win the Heisman Trophy and play in the Final Four. In the 1963 NFL Draft, Baker was the first overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams, but he only played three years as his playing style did not translate into the NFL. However, Terry Baker will always remain a legend at Oregon State.

1967 Giant Killers
In 1967, Oregon State was considered to be a rebuilding team, but after two early season wins against the Stanford Indians and the Arizona State Sun Devils, the Beavers had a nine-game winning streak which was the nation's longest. But the winning streak came to an end after a close loss to Washington and Oregon State now had to travel to West Lafayette, Indiana to take on #2 Purdue. Purdue was a 20-point favorite and the defending Rose Bowl champions. The Boilermakers had won nine straight and had already beaten Texas A&M and Ohio State on the road and #1 Notre Dame in West Lafayette. The Beavers faced Purdue's "All-Time Greatest Player" RB/CB Marvin Leroy but Oregon State stunned the the Boilemakers with a 35-7 upset.
Next, the #15 Oregon State Beavers would have to travel to Los Angeles to take on #2 UCLA. The star for UCLA was QB Gary Beban, who would go on to win the 1967 Heisman Trophy. The game would end in a 16-16 tie. The game had barely ended before Oregon State head coach was fielding questions on his chances to beat #1 USC. He finally got sick of the questions and told the press, "I'm tired of playing these number two ranked teams. Bring on number one."
The #1 Trojans were a juggernaut. In the 1960s, Southern California would finish no worse than second in their conference, winning six conference championships, playing in five Rose Bowls, and winning two national championships. The 1967 Trojans may have been the best Trojan team in the decade. Sporting News ranked 1967 Southern California as the #9 team of the 20th century. Their non-conference schedule included #1 Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana; #3 Michigan State in East Lansing, Michigan; and #4 Texas in the Coliseum. Southern California started off the non-conference slate with a 17-13 win over Texas in the Coliseum. Then, they traveled to East Lansing, Michigan, to defeat Michigan State 21-17. In the Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh, the Trojans defeated the Irish 24-7 in South Bend, Indiana. The 17-point loss served as the largest margin of defeat the Irish would endure in South Bend, Indiana, between 1963 and 1979. When Southern California rolled into Corvallis, they were averaging winning every game by more than 20 points against one of the hardest schedules ever compiled.
Southern California's two biggest stars were right tackle Ron Yary and halfback O.J. Simpson. Yary was the best lineman in the country and would win the Outland Trophy at the end of the year. O.J. Simpson led the country with 1050 rushing yards. He would go on to finish second on Heisman ballots in 1967 and would win the trophy in 1968. Both players would wind up as the first overall pick of the NFL draft after each of their senior seasons, and each would enter both the College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fames.
The game was highly anticipated. California governor Ronald Reagan and Oregon governor Tom McCall made the trip. Ronald Reagan had famously said he would handpick a box of oranges if Oregon State won. 41,494 fans filled the 40,750-seat then Parker Stadium. It was the most-attended single sporting event in the history of Oregon. The #1 Trojans were 11-point favorites over the #13 Beavers. Oregon State again shocked the world with a 3-0 upset. UCLA's 48-0 win over Washington the same day eliminated Oregon State from the Rose Bowl race. Conference rules did not permit more than one team to go to a bowl game at the time, so the Civil War would be Oregon State's last game of the year.
On November 18, #1 UCLA and #2 Southern California battled for the Victory Bell in the Coliseum. UCLA was 7-0-1 and Southern California was 8-1. It has been dubbed the "Game of the Century" and the "signature game" in the rivalry. The 21-20 win on O.J. Simpson's 64-yard fourth quarter scamper helped propel the Trojans to a national championship.
The Civil War victory over Oregon propelled the Beavers to #7 in the final AP Poll, which was their best ever final ranking. It would take another 33 years for Oregon State to be ranked any higher. Oregon State's 7-2-1 record was its best between 1962 and 2000. It is all the more impressive because they were only favored to win three of the ten games they played.

You know I'm following. The last one was great, but make this one even better. It should also be fun with Jacquizz Rodgers actually rated what he should have been last year.
Following for sure. Im mad i didnt have the time to read through all of the last one, i read most of it though, and if this is anywhere near as good than this'll be an awesome dynasty. Good luck.
Don't worry. It's a lot to read through.

Go Ducks!
This should be fun having a Duck following. I'm still hurting from that last heart wrenching Civil War beat down we took. Oh well, I guess we're even for 2000 now.
