What has fueled Dorell Wright to his play this season?
Dorell Wright's career to this point has been filled with disappointment and injuries. But with this season nearly a month old, Dorell is proving that this season will not be like the past ones.
"I worked really hard this off season, getting stronger, improving my jump shot, building endurance, just trying to get into great basketball shape and improving my game."
Before this season, Dorell Wright played in only 139 games in his first five seasons in the NBA. His best season to date was the 2007-2008 season, where he played 44 games, averaging 8 points a game, 5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, almost a block and a steal a game in 25 minutes a game.
But this season has been completely different. He is averaging 8.4 points a game, 1.5 rebounds and an assist per game. But what is remarkable is that he is shooting 53% from the field, a very surprising 43% from three point land, and 90% from the free throw line. He is doing all this in 10 minutes a game.
"Coach Spoelstra told me I have a chance to snatch minutes this season if I was healthy. I proved to him in training camp and pre season I deserve these minutes. Honestly, I think I deserve some more, but it's all good right now."
With the Heat sitting at 5-9, coming off back to back wins over great teams in the Magic and the Hornets, the Heat may try some new lineups, which may include more Dorell Wright.
