Breaking Down Purdue's Offense in 2010

      QB
Well, you can say that Purdue has more then just depth at the QB position. But of course, there is one player that stands out the most. Caleb TerBush took a redshirt his freshmen season, then was under Joey Elliot's wing last season. He is more then ready to start as a Sophomore. He has a great arm, and his short passing game is even better. He also is a tad faster then Joey Elliot was, so that is a plus at the QB position.

      RB/FB
Last season, the Purdue running game had a tremendous season on the ground. Can this running back group improve from last season? They certainly have the players to do it. They have outstanding depth as shown above, lead by speedster Ralph Bolden and juke master Malcom Harris. Look for a similar season on the ground from the Boilers.

      WR
An experienced wide receiver group should help young Caleb TerBush out a lot. Keith Smith returns as a starting WR, and Joe Holland is for sure capable for a starting job. It looks as if Andy James and Eric Williams will be the 3rd and 4th WR's on the Depth Chart this season as well.

      TE
Gabe Holmes played very well last season as the second string TE. Expect tons more from him this season starting. He has amazing speed for a TE, to go along with his blocking ability. He is going to be a special player playing on Sundays some day.

      Tackles
Purdue's tackles are very young, and very talented. With Dennis Kelly and Peters Drey starting this season, I can see both making All Big Ten. Might as well put Kelly as an All American now.

      Guards
Guards may be Purdue's biggest weakness this season. They have a true freshmen starting at RG, and Senior at LG, but they have a very raw backup true freshmen as well, but that's it. Depth may hurt this team on the OL.

      Centers
Austen Moret improved vastly this off season. He should have the starting job for the next two seasons. You can maybe put him as a preseason All American, we'll just have to see. We will be looking at the Defense and Special Teams a little bit later, stay tuned.

Yeah, Big Ten teams got a lot tougher this year. I do have a pretty good receiving corps, too bad I'm highly considering running a Flexbone with an option run play book :2thumbs:

Breaking Down Purdue's Defense in 2010

                  LE
Ryan Kerrigan is probably one of, if not the best left end in college football at the moment. 54 tackles (26 for loss) 14 sacks in his Junior season, and he only got better in the off season. Look for him to contend for an All American spot on the D -Line, and practically a lock for All Big Ten.

                  RE
Another Senior starter for Purdue, Gerald Gooden should be a good repalcement for Keyon Brown. He is very powerful for his 6'3, 237 pound frame. He also can get around the corner with his speed for a sack.I don't see why he couldn't get at least 5 sacks this year.

                  DT
We have some tremendous young talent right here in this position. His name is Kawann Short. His man sure knows how to stop the run. In his lone start last season, he racked up 9 tackles, including 5 for a loss, and a sack. Pretty good for a freshmen. He is the second best player on this Purdue roster, behind the All Big Ten linemen Ryan Kerrigan. Look for both Kerrigan and Short to dominate this season.

                  OLB
The Boilermakers have a great starting Line backing corps. Led by last season's tackle leader Chris Carlino, one of the best LOLB in college football Joe Holland, and an experienced Senior John Humphrey at ROLB, Purdue should be able to rack up tackles with no problem at all. I can also see D.J. Bell being a great player, give him a year or 2 to mature and he'll be a great player.

                  CB
We are hitting Purdue's weakness's on there team. The Secondary is full of unproven players that can be good, but at the same time, be bad. Though this Corner Back group is young, they have talent. Antavian Edison, you might remember him returning kicks last season. Well, that is in fact all he did, never played a down on defense. Now he is the starting Corner Back on the team that went to the Rose Bowl last season. He has some big shoes to fill. Charlton Williams will be lining up on the other corner with him. Senior with experience should help Antavian. Quinton Harvey, the second commit Purdue had during the past season as an ATH, decided to play CB, and should see decent time his freshmen year.

                  FS
This may be surprising, but Aaron Hill, the true freshmen, is in the running for the starting Free Safety spot. He was the #5 FS in the 2009 recruiting class. He is very powerful and is a very smart player. Ishmael and Hill will battle it out for the starting spot, as it looks like the Purdue coaching staff would rather start a freshmen over a Senior who has barely progressed.

                  SS
Remember the name Mark Chase? You might. He was the number ONE prospect in the nation, not just the number one Strong Safety. He can any of the Linebacker positions, as well as Corner Back, Free Safety, and the position he is known for, Strong Safety. A very strong player, as well as fast. He should be on the Freshmen All American team this season. Remember that name..

                  K/P
Coming off an All Big Ten season, Carson Wiggs looks to improve his kicking game for the Boilers. He has been seen kicking field goals over 50 yards now. His leg is stronger then ever, and may be splitting punts with freshmen Reggie Hamby
