Ugh tough way to lose....that's one thing I wish didn't happen so frequently in Madden 10, less of those ducks when the QB gets hit......more sacks would pile up if that didn't happen so much....but I guess the 4 picks hurt more than anything, Palmer was off his game.....the defense did a nice job on Peyton

Man, Spiller really is getting better every week - 286 total yards and a TD. That run game with Donald Brown really killed you, though.Comment

Tough loss man. The run defense and Palmer's off day were the difference there. Huge game though with pitttsburgh. I think this Bengals team has come a long way since that opening day blowout."Cheese is a modern day badass" - BonesMahoneyComment

Next week is big. You guys have to start beating the elite of the AFC. Pittsburgh has been a thorn in your side since the start of the 'chise. Spiller continues to impress. The kid is really starting to show promise with his consistency. I have to think Spiller is the team MVP, if not in the race for league MVP.
Palmer had a rough outing and it could only get tougher with the Steeler defense waiting...May be a good day to showcase Spiller and utilize a lot of quick slants to avoid the rush and limit the interception opportunities for the Steeler secondary.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

Game 8, Year 3: Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
30 -- 5-3
27 -- 5-3 F/OT
TOP: On the very first play of overtime, Bengals DE Michael Johnson stripped Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall of the football and it was recovered by OLB Manny Lawson deep in Pittsburgh territory. On the next play, Bengals PK Shayne Graham kicked the game-winning 40-yard field goal giving Cincinnati a thrilling 30-27 victory. BOTTOM: Bengals QB Carson Palmer finds RB C.J. Spiller, who finished the game with over 200 all-purpose yards, trucked Steelers SS Troy Polamalu on his way into the end zone.
"WE BECAME A TEAM TODAY"
Cincinnati PK Shayne Graham kicks 40-yard field goal in overtime lifting Bengals to a 30-27 upset victory over arch-nemisis Pittsburgh | Steelers turnover on first play of overtime session sets up Bengals' game-winner | Palmer and Spiller's late game heroics send contest into extra session | Game nearly blown with penalty on final play of regulation
The Cincinnati Bengals picked up their first win over the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2006, defeating their arch rivals 30-27 Sunday on the road in overtime. In the extra period, Pittsburgh RB Rashard Mendenhall was stripped of the football by Bengals DE Michael Johnson and it was recovered by OLB Manny Lawson deep in Steelers territory and well in field goal range. Cincinnati head coach Mike Martz wasted no time sending out his field goal unit and PK Shayne Graham delivered with a 40-yard field goal to win the game.
Cincinnati was able to send the game into overtime by going on a 13-play 75-yard drive that took up 4:57 late in the fourth quarter. The possession culminated with a 17-yard scoring strike from QB Carson Palmer to RB C.J. Spiller which made the score 27-27 with 1:54 remaining in the game. Palmer had his finest performance of the season, going 25 of 34 for 325 yards with 3 touchdowns and for the first time this season, no interceptions. Spiller continued to display his versatility, gaining 210 all-purpose yards (90 yards rushing, 102 yards receiving, and an 18-yard fourth quarter punt return) along with 2 touchdowns.
The tone was set early in the game by the Bengals. After forcing a Pittsburgh punt on the first possession of the game, Cincinnati took their ensuing possession on a 12-play 81-yard drive that lasted over 7 minutes and ended with a Palmer to Spiller touchdown hook-up on a middle-screen pass. The drive featured a heavy-dose of runs, 10 carries for 57 yards, including 6 rushes for 36 yards by Spiller.
"We thought it was important to come out early and establish an attitude," said Martz.
"To beat a team like that, you have to play a physical brand of football. Obviously you all know that I am a pass-first kind of guy but today we all felt it was important to establish that we weren't going to be punching bags today and that we would fight back."
The Bengals overcame much adversity during the contest. The team was penalized 9 times for 85 yards, both season-highs. Their infractions included a holding call on a 49-yard field goal made by Graham on the final play of regulation that would have won the game.
"The coaches won't say it but I am going to say it...We weren't just playing against the Steelers out there," said Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco, who finished with 5 receptions for 52 yards.
"It felt like we were also playing against the officials. You mean to tell me that Pittsburgh did absolutely nothing wrong for 60+ minutes of football and did not do a single thing penalty-worthy while we were bad enough to be penalized almost 10 times? Child please."
"Fine me if you want, but it's bogus. It was us against the world out there today. They tried to give the Steelers the game but we went out and took it. This is a changing of the guard."
The win for Cincinnati (5-3) puts them in a first place tie with the Steelers (5-3). The Bengals' record through 8 games this year matches their record from last season at this point, a year they finished 6-10. Martz knows that his team must avoid a similar collapse.
"I really felt like we became a team today and if we keep playing like this, we're going to have much to celebrate come playoff time," said Martz.
"The key though is for us to stay focused and to continue to get better one week at a time. We need to keep playing good, opportunistic defense, as wekk as sound, turnover-free offense, while also cleaning up the penalties. We do those things, we can take this thing pretty far."
Cincinnati will face Buffalo next week at home. The Bills are 5-3 under the leadership of new QB Kevin Kolb, who signed with them during the past free agent signing period following their 3-13 season in 2010.

YES!!! What a huge win...it's a good thing you were able to pull that off in overtime after the refs blew that call at the end of regulation. The run defense was spectacular and Spiller should be getting some major MVP hype..that guy can do it all. It looks like there is no reprieve in your schedule though as you head into the next game with the Bills. It looks like they could be pretty decent. Your offense looks pretty dominating and it looks like the defense is taking some positive strides in the right direction. Best of luck against the Bills!"Cheese is a modern day badass" - BonesMahoneyComment

That is a huge win for your football team man! Gives you the edge in the division and shows that your team is indeed for real. What am awesome drive to force the overtime..it must have given the defense the needed momentum with that first play take away! Both quarterbacks had extremely solid ballgames, but you were able to dismantle their rushing attack..this game could be huge come playoff time (Though I don't want to get ahead of myself!)
Big win, and another tough game this week..I like Kevin Kolb, looks like Buffalo probably likes him as well.Comment

I'm really liking the make-up of this team. I think we have a shot at doing big things this year.

Buffalo will be a challenge. We have to avoid the proverbial "letdown" game after our big win.Comment

Ducking in to see the best 'chise on this or any board. Very nice. A couple of OT games. A 10-6 game which must've been pure bliss (I need to go back and read the report to see if that was the case). Lots of close games and different types of scores. You're starting to win, but we don't see the 16-0 regular season going on. Another fine DGZ production in high gear. Kinda weird not seeing it on the college level, but the Madden boards are better for it.Comment

A 13-play drive in the 4th quarter!?!?! There's one word for that: C-L-U-T-C-H CLUTCH. That was huge! Palmer played a hell of a game and, I say it every week, Spiller continues to impress and be a offensive threat no matter the opponent. Looking forward to the next update!Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008
