Breaking News: Buffalo Bills Clean House, Name Short List of Head Coaching Candidates

Is Perry Fewell the man for the job?

AP Buffalo: Bills GM Cheese2121 announced this morning that they have cleaned out the front office. Former head coach Dick Jauron was given notice following the end of the regular season that the team would be parting ways with him and his staff.

"I was informed that management wanted to go in a different direction. That's the nature of this game. I did not produce during my time here at Buffalo and thus this doesn't come as a big surprise. I don't blame them. There are a couple positions around the league that intrigue me. I will definitely be coaching again." - Dick Jauron

All of Jauron's staff has been let go as well. Although early reports indicate that Perry Fewell who served as the Bills defensive coordinator under Jauron is the favorite to be the next head coach in Buffalo. Buffalo has narrowed their search down to three candidates and plans to bring them in for interviews. The list includes Perry Fewell, former Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, and current Dallas offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

"We'd like to get our front office in place very soon so that we can focus on personnel issues, free agency and the draft." - GM Cheese2121

The Bills have also terminated their current training staff which comes as no surprise following the injury plagued season. Upper management chose to not renew the contract of their current scouting agency, citing the agencies inability to provide information on larger numbers of players as the main issue. Both positions are likely to be filled soon.

Do you think your future QB is on your roster right now? Edwards was pretty mediocre all year, Cantwell is a young QB as well and he played pretty good down the stretch. Is there any chance he is the week one starter next year?

I am glad that Jauron has gone. I just don't think Perry has what it takes to be a head coach in the NFL. There are many Gems out there! Shannahan, Schottenhiemer.

Go get yourself a big name head coach and work it from there

                and lol at the Panthers.

Breaking News: Buffalo Bills Announce Russ Grimm as Head Coach

Russ Grimm will look to lead the Bills heading into the 2010-2011 season.

AP Buffalo - The Buffalo Bills announced Russ Grimm this morning as their new head coach heading into the 2010-2011 season. Grimm signed a 4 year 4.42 million dollar contract to become the 15th head coach in Buffalo Bills history. The 51 year old coach looks to bring a winning attitude and toughness to a Bills team that has lacked both.

Grimm has been coaching in the NFL since 1992. He was the favorite to succeed Bill Cowher in Pittsburgh but ultimately did not get the job when the Steelers opted to go with Mike Tomlin. Grimm ended up becoming the assistant head coach/offensive line coach under Ken Wisenhunt in Arizona. He has consistently put together top ten offenses year in and year out.

"I have waited for this opportunity for so long. I can't even say how excited I am. I would like to take this time to thank Owner Ralph Wilson and GM Cheese2121 for this chance. To the people of Buffalo, now is the time that we return to the playoffs and bring home that Lombardi trophy. There is a lot of work left to be done but I want to say again how happy I am to be here. Go Bills!" - Head Coach Russ Grimm

Grimm is expected to announce his coaching staff soon. It is believed that Grimm was not announced as part of the short list because his availability was still in question. Ron Rivera and Perry Fewell are expected to be contacted by Grimm about the vacant defensive coordinator position.

Hahah no worries Schottenheimer wasn't even available. I kind of wanted to bring in someone new that hadn't coached before. I am just hoping it works out.

To be honest I am not really sure. It will almost certainly be an open competition heading into the preseason. Cantwell's contract is up so we'll see if he gets resigned. I like Cantwell a lot and he played pretty well for me but he has a D potential which is worrisome. If he progresses well, he will definitely have a shot to be the starter. I think I will try to bring him back on to the roster one way or another. He'll be in the mix for sure.

Yeah there weren't too many big names out there but I really like Grimm. Hiring him really made sense. He is considered one of the up and coming coordinators in the league and he gives a ton of blocking bonuses to my offensive line which will be really nice. The rushing offense should really take off under him and hopefully the passing as well. I am really excited.

He's the assistant head coach in Arizona right now. He was like an all pro lineman for the Redskins way back in the day and from what I've read/researched is one of the coordinators considered to be head coach material. There was a big deal about him back when Cowher retired because one the of the news sources accidently announced him as the new head coach of the steelers when in fact he was just a candidate. He ended up moving with Ken Wisenhunt after that.

Awesome hire in Grimm. He'll be a great NFL head coach when he gets his shot. Tough, disciplined, overall a great coach.
