Week 17 is finally here Seahawks fans. Only one more week to put you out of your misery. The Seahawks go in at 4-11, while the Titans go in at 7-8. The Titans need to win and a lot of things to go their way if they want in the playoffs.
    Tennessee Players to Watch
The Titans go as Chris Johnson goes. He's the most electrifying player in the league, and will be into the defensive secondary before some defensive tackles even know the ball is snapped. But the Titans will need Vince Young to not turn the ball over in order to win. If VY can play a solid game and not chuck up too many pass attempts, the Titans will win.

    Seattle Seahawks Players to Watch

With only two games left to play, a number of Seahawks could be playing for their jobs right now. Matt Hasselbeck, Julius Jones, Deion Branch, Patrick Kerney, and Jordan Babineaux are all playing for keeps now. They need to show front office something that would make them be inclined to want them as a part of their future plans.

    Prediction
    Seattle Seahawks 14
    Tennessee Titans 20

Loss Caps off Abysmal Season in Seattle

      24 14

Seattle Trends usually last for awhile, and this season's trend was, well, losing. Staying true to form, Seattle locked up the 5th overall pick in this years draft. Chris Johnson started the scoring with a 21 yard run that capped off a methodical drive by the Titans. T.J Houshmanzadeh scored on an 11 yard TD pass, and it was 7-7 going into the 2nd. In the 2nd, the scenario of CJ and Housh followed, this time C.J went for 58 yards and Housh for 19.

Much like in their last game against Green Bay, the Seahawks went dead in the 2nd half allowing the Titans to jump out and take the lead. Chris Johnson this time caught a TD pass from Vince Young, going in from 14 yards out. Rob Bironas tacked on a 52 yard chip in, and the game was good as gone for Seattle. Chris Johnson proved why he was the most dominating player in the league in 2009.

End of the Year Report (GM Perspective)

Most will look at 4-12 and think failure, disappointment. For me though, I saw a lot of improvement and great signs inside these numbers that I hope a lot of the fans can see as well. Yes we didn't have a winning season, but he improved in a ton of areas and were able to pinpoint other areas of concern. I would like to first announce that the team will be switching to a 3-4 scheme based defense and we will need a defensive coordinator who also runs this scheme. That is why I would like to announce the hiring of Wade Phillips. Wade is coming off a tenure with the Dallas Cowboys where he had a .570 winning percentage, but was known for solid Cowboys defenses. Wade is a 3-4 guy, and feel that this allows Jim Mora to concentrate a lot more on the offense now that he has an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator in Wade Phillips.

Now that staffing is over, I want to take a stronger look at this team and who surprised me and who let me down per say.

I think anyone has to start with Matt Hasselbeck as a surprise player. 24 touchdowns to only 13 INT's, Hass was great with ball security and was 2 completions away from hitting 4,000 yards. Statistically, this was one of his best seasons in his entire career. I for the most part feel comfortable heading into next season with Matt Hasselbeck as my starting QB.

Another guy who I liked what I saw from was Deon Butler. Butler showed big play ability having the highest YPC on the team, and also showed great hands. Having Butler coming out of the slot as a 3rd or 4th WR next season will be great for his development, and I hope he can continue to be groomed into Seattle's next electrifying wideout. John Carlson's maturation process was also very encouraging. I feel he is one of the best tight end's in the league.

On the defensive side of the ball, Lawrence Jackson completely blew me away. In no way shape or form was I expecting 10 sacks, yet he was the only guy from the front four who we could rely on to get consistent pressure. Brandon Mebane and Colin Cole both plugged up the middle nicely. Since we are moving to the 3-4, we will move Brandon over to DE and place Colin right in the middle.

Our entire linebacking core was impressive. All of them are young and talented, leaving us set at that position for the next 4 years at least. Lofa and Leroy were both tackle machines while Aaron Curry surprised me garnering a lot of attention off the edge and amassing 7 tackles. That just gives me more encouragement that he will do fine as a OLB in the 3-4.

Onto the let downs. You have to start with Julius Jones. Given the starting job, again, he looked decent at the beginning of the year but completely fell apart in the final 6-7 games. It got so bad that we had to start using Owen Schmitt for a good 10 carries a game as the fullback. The fullback. Patrick Kerney was also a huge disappointment for me. Only three sacks, he was the guy we were relying on to get pressure on the QB this year. Luckily, Lawrence stepped up or he would have put us in a huge hole defensively.

Marcus Trufant did not intercept one pass this year, and is lumped in with the entire secondary. None of them played well, allowing big play after big play and often misplaying casual and routine plays. Marcus will need to step it up next season or else his future may be cloudy, along with the two safeties at the top.

As far as the draft goes, we will have the 5th overall selection. There are plenty of viable options to go with here. Preference would be offense, but defense could also work.
