Making Magic | A Washington Wizards Association
2007-2008 Wizards Season Recap:
The Washington Wizards worked hard all season to improve on the defensive side of the ball, and they managed to improve tremendously. After a season of ups and downs the Wizards managed to snag the number five seed of the playoffs and were set to matchup against their rivals, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, they were defeated in six games after a heated battle between James and shooting guard DeShawn Stevenson. Overall, it was a good year for the Wizards squad. However, three-time all-star Gilbert Arenas went down with a season-ending knee injury, and he will be forced to miss much of the 2008-2009 season because of it. This hurts Washington's chances at success in the upcoming season drastically, as veteran Mike James will be forced to take the reigns as Washington's starting point guard.
2008-2009 Wizards Season Preview:
Mike James and Javaris Crittenton will be splitting time at the point guard spot to fill in for the hurt Gilbert Arenas, and Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison will need to play as their normal selves all year long to make up for the huge void as a dominant scorer. Sophomore Nick Young and guard DeShawn Stevenson will be relied on to bring scoring off the bench, as will big man Andray Blatche. NBA experts aren't expecting much from Washington this year, and for that reason general manger Ernie Grunfield wants it to be known that nobody is safe, every single member of the Washington Wizards is on the market.
