Will Newsome Be Available For Ohio State Game?

University Park, PA -- In Penn State's previous game against the Wildcats of Northwestern, Kevin Newsome was hit after completing a pass for a first down, the hit was questionably late but that wasn't the big problem. The real problem was the result of the hit, Newsome just layed on the field for minute until the training staff was able to check him out. Thankfully he was just diagnosed with only a sprained shoulder and he would only miss the rest of the game. Paul Jones took over at quarterback after Newsome left the game.

"Paul [Jones] played a decent game, but as we expected at the beginning of the season his arm is just not ready yet since he is only a freshman." This was Joe Paterno's answer to a reporters question of how he though Paul Jones performed in the playing time he received. "Kevin Newsome will be out starting quarterback going into Ohio State this weekend, he said his shoulder feels good and he's ready to tear apart the Buckeyes pass defense."

The Nittany Lions go into the Horseshoe with high hopes as they have won their last 4 games. Lucky for the Lions, Ohio State runningback Brandon Saine will miss the game due to a pulled groin. This is a very important game in the Big Ten conference and could decided if Penn State will face Iowa for a second time this season, but this time for the Big Ten title.
