October 2, 2010 - Michael London has stated that QB Mark Verica will start today's game at #7 Georgia Tech. Rumors had it that Verica would be benched after his poor display against the Seminoles this past weekend.

London on Verica: "Mark is still a young QB, he can have a bad game - but that's his one mulligan."

Verica on remaining the starter: "I've worked hard all week, I hope to put the FSU game behind me by taking down an even better team today."

Charlottesville, VA -- After racking more interceptions than he has touchdowns, Mark Verica has been on a tear of failing at the quarterback position. The red shirt senior has recently been backed up by his head coach this week to dismiss any rumors of another starter.

"We believe in Mark to get the job done," says London, "I feel that it's easy to dismiss his mistakes early on - but now we're into the grit of things, and I'm very confident that he will start producing the talent that has been well seen on occasion."

The topic of quarterback controversy was not originally near a discussion considering Verica is the oldest of the three quarterbacks, and has more game time experience. Even though Rick Metheny displayed some poise in the pocket when Verica was taken out, London states that he is not ready to start a game for Virginia.

"Rick is a strong young man with plenty of potential, but his development will not be displayed in the face of the nation while I'm in charge. The job is Mark's."

With that, the focus turns to the possibility of the Virginia Athletic committee removing London from his position as head coach, certainly rumors will spread - but after an 0-5 start, the chances continue to increase - especially if the head coach does not win over a 3-2 North Carolina team.
