Sounds like a fair deal GSW. I'd do that.

I might deal Michael Young and Kevin Milwood later in the season depending on my needs. My pitching is fairly bad now, so I might need SP. Who should I get? I was thinking of trading both of those guys and getting like Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard or something from the Sox. Anybody else got any suggestions on what SP I should get (if I decide to trade Young and Milwood)?

have fun trying to do that. Theo Epstien LOVES clay buccholz, so the only way you would be able to get him is if you gave up Teagarden. If you wanted to get Daniel Bard, you would need to give up Saltalammachia. We really have no need for either of those players, as we have lugo's big salary+jed lowrie in his first full season, and Millwood sucks.

Hmm. Alright. Are there any other pitchers you think I should go for? I like Hamels a lot and the Phillies need a good 3B and Milwood actually isn't that bad on the game.

dude, you gotta have realistic expectations. Hamels is coming off a career year and he's the centerpiece of the philadelphia team.

I don't think your going to have a lot of luck finding good young pitching talent. Try to target bad teams with older pitchers that can help you win now. I suppose come trade deadline you could always make a run at Jake Peavy. If the Blue Jays are struggling, Roy Halladay may be available as there were halladay rumors last season. Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Gil Meche, Erik Bedard, maybe Matt Cain.

all of those guys would have to be picked up if their team is sucking and usually around the trade deadline

Yeah, I agree. It was just one of those things that I was considering about Hamels. I highly doubt I was going to make a move for him. I actually like Cain and Zito from the Giants. Peavy would be interesting in Texas but I know I would have to give up a boat load for him including some good prospects. I'm saying though that by trade deadline if I can get a good #1 and a good #4/5 starter at the cost of Young, Milwood, and McCarthy/Jennings/Gabbard, I should be fine. I'm trying to view my options. If I want a #1 starter, I'd have to give up Young and Milwood and I'm not sure if I want to do that. If I want a decent #4/5 starter (like Ian Kennedy, Andrew Miller, Greg Smith), I wouldn't have to give up as much. I still gotta see. I'm a long ways from the trade deadline, but I know my primary concern is pitching.

I'd love to get Livan Hernandez on the Marlins, where he started his career. He's one of my favorite pitchers and he brings veteran leadership. What would I have to give to the Mets?

too unrealistic, renteria wouldnt move and now young is happy at 3rd
