BigDmo's DCU Titans Dynasty: The Hunt for Notoriety

Welcome to my DCU Titans dynasty. This is my first dynasty so feel free to give me comments. I will most likely not update this everyday, I do not have the time to play a game a day, this is just for fun in my spare time, I've been wanting to do one of these for years. Anyway, I hope you have fun reading what's to come and I have fun playing.

Major Landscape Change in FBS Starting 2010

INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA has had a busy day today announcing the major changes to the football bowl sub-division of college football. One of the biggest pieces of news was the promotion of FCS powerhouse, DCU, to replace the never successful Eastern Michigan Eagles. DCU will be apart of the Independents until they receive a conference bid.

Notre Dame University will no longer be independent, it has accepted a bid to play in the Big East conference to fill the spot left by South Florida, which will be taking its place in Conference USA, replacing Marshall. Marshall has now moved to the MAC to fill the void left by EMU being demoted.

The Big Ten is now the Big XII, while the Big XII is now the Big Ten. With the addition of Nebraska to the Big Ten, the NCAA saw no reason for each conference to retain their names, and the switch will hopefully be less confusing for new fans.

The changes have been mostly received well, at least by those who have gained the most out of this. When asked how he felt about the promotion to FBS, DCU coach Mo Biggins said, "Its like our dreams have came true. We have worked our butts off trying to gain a shot at the big show, and now we have that chance."

DCU certainly has a shot to be successful, however they will have to compete with in-town big brother, the University of Oregon. DCU has always lived in the shadow of Oregon, despite their success many people in Eugene remain Duck fans and lack following DCU. Now that DCU is in the FBS, coach Biggins hopes he can see his fan base increase. "It certainly won't be easy to gain notoriety, we will have to work hard for it, but I think we are all ready to be in this for the long run."

DCU will face a tough all FBS opponent schedule this year which has not been announced yet. DCU will also be trying to prove the new guys can be successful too, something Western Kentucky has failed to prove since their promotion.

Only time will tell how this college football shake up will impact the college football world, but fans should be in for a great season coming in 2010.

2010 Season Schedule for DCU Announced, Top 25 Released

EUGENE - The season schedule for Division 1 football bowl subdivisions newest member the DCU Titans, has been released. The schedule is as follows:

                Week 1 - @Minnesota
                Week 2 - North Texas
                Week 3 - @Oregon
                Week 4 - @Rutgers
                Week 5 - Bye
                Week 6 - Central Michigan
                Week 7 - Arkansas State
                Week 8 - @Navy
                Week 9 - Bye
                Week 10 - Air Force
                Week 11 - @Utah
                Week 12 - Army
                Week 13 - @Washington State
                Week 14 - Bye
                Week 15 - @USC

Experts have ranked DCU's strength of schedule at about a B, which would be hard for almost any team, let alone the new guy. DCU will be tested in every game this year, do not expect them to have a strong year DCU faithful.

In the meantime, DCU's big brother, the Oregon Ducks, start the season ranked at 4th in the nation. This is one of Oregon's highest starts in the polls ever. Coming off of a tough Rose Bowl defeat and a troubled off-season, experts do not expect Oregon to get back to the Rose Bowl. Instead many experts are picking rival Oregon State to win the Pac-10.

The full top 25 is as follows:

                1 – Alabama
                2 – Ohio St
                3 – Texas
                4 – Oregon
                5 – Boise State
                6 – Florida
                7 – Virginia Tech
                8 – TCU
                9 – Nebraska
                10 – Iowa
                11 – Wisconsin
                12 – Georgia Tech
                13 – USC
                14 – Miami
                15 – Oklahoma
                16 – Pitt
                17 – LSU
                18 – Penn St
                19 – Oregon St
                20 – Arkansas
                21 – Florida St
                22 – North Carolina
                23 – Utah
                24 – Cincinnati
                25 – Houston

                  DCU Signs Deal With Nike

EUGENE - Not a surprising move given the location of DCU, the Titans today signed a contract with Nike to be supplied with new jerseys and equipment from the multi-sport manufacturer. Players for DCU will now be equipped with the latest technology that has helped dress University of Oregon players for years. Nike spokesmen said that DCU was a "fresh new face needing help with their identity, Nike is very proud to be apart of their new identity and welcoming into the NCAA football bowl subdivision."

NIKE, Inc. based near Beaverton, Oregon, is the world's leading designer, marketer and distributor of authentic athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories for a wide variety of sports and fitness activities. Since 1999, Nike has owned the top spot in the Collegiate Licensing Company's (CLC) collegiate apparel royalties rankings.
