Kent State
Two Runners & One Blocker Commit
Kent State is back on the road for their final road game, looking to win the team's final two games. With a 4-6 record, their only way to become bowl eligible would be wins over the Broncos and MAC East leader, Ohio Bobcats. Last week, the team lost a difficult home game to Army. During the game, the team hosted athlete and running back Jim Gray.

Gray was the only recruit visiting during the game against the Black Knights. Playing multiple skill positions, and on both sides of the ball, Gray brings a versatile skill set. And he will be bringing his skills to Kent, Ohio. Committing following the team's 17-7 loss, Gray hopes to potentially play at running back or linebacker. He could be a replacement for full back Nick Masters, who is in his last year with the team.

Gray wasn't the only player to commit, while two others committed. It takes the total amount of commitments into double-digits for the Golden Flashes.

The other two players to commit were one-star running back Dominique Thomas and one-star tight end Dwayne James. Both players are physical, Pennsylvania natives. The first two players to commit to Kent from the state of Pennsylvania.

Thomas, an upright runner built like a receiver, has yet to fumble in his senior season. He is an all-around back that is a pass-catching player, but isn't afraid to run between the tackles. Hoping to block for Thomas one day is Dwayne James, who is a block-first tight end.

Wanting to be the next player to replace Jonathan Simpson, he has a lot to work on before he even sees playing time. After visiting for the Ball State game, James said he didn't care as much about playing time. He just wants to play for Kent State.

Yeah, I'm a little confused because I have never seen it before myself. But that's what he was listed as (JUCO So.). Looks to be a pretty good Quarterback, I'm excited to have a Quarterback battle next year.

Yeah Fox, you're right. It is nice to bring in athletes because they always start off rated higher at certain positions than their rating as an athlete. I could see Jim Gray starting or being a role player next year. Although I don't know at what position.

Kent State
4&3: Sign and Visit for Finale
Kent State is gearing up for its' final game of the season. No longer playing for a bowl game, they are now trying to play the role of spoiler. MAC East leader Ohio visits, with only one conference loss. The Golden Flashes would like to make it two. Especially the graduating seniors, and their nervous Head Coach, Doug Martin.

Martin has done a terrific job of recruiting in his final season. Although most of the credit can be given to the Athletic Director and football department that have changed the recruiting "strategy." Included in that strategy is targeting junior college players and players looking to transfer.

It paid off when the team added their second JUCO recruit, also the team's second three-star talent. Marques Horne will come to Kent with two years of eligibility. He is a Ohio native that moved to Pennsylvania and played two years at Harrisburg Community College. A pass-blocker, he could start immediately, and hopes he can. One of the many reasons he chose to play at Kent.

The team did, however, lose out on a third three-star player when linebacker Mike Harrison decided to commit to Central Florida. A "tough decision," the Floridian wanted to play in-state more than he wanted to play early. Both reasons leading him to UCF.

The team did add 3 more one-star players, taking the team's total of committed recruits to 14. Leading the way was Adam Jackson, a corner who became the third corner to commit. Jackson joins another Jackson (Chris) and hopes to be a playmaker for Kent in the future. Chris, on the other hand, wants to start making plays next season.

The team also added another tackle, the same week Horne committed. Andrew Stewart a strong and physical former wrestler chose to leave his home state of North Carolina. He picked Kent over Wake Forest and East Carolina, citing that Kent State was the first team to offer him a scholarship. He will take his raw blend of skills to Ohio, hoping to be molded into a bookend.

Finally the team turned a soft verbal commitment into a definite commit from Quarterback Ryan Davis. He had been on the team's radar for a long time but never took an official visit. He said that he knew all along where he wanted to play. An accurate passer, he knows he has lots to work on to be a QB at the next level.

While the final game looms, it doesn't mean the team is done recruiting. They have three players visiting for the final game, including two from the state of Ohio: Tony Matthews, an athletic safety from Solon, and Jay Ryan, an interior lineman. They also bring in another Florida player, looking to be the team's second Floridian to commit: the smallish linebacker with a big motor, Gaines Michael

Senior's Game Sees Changes; Martin's Last Stand?
Heading into "Senior Night" and the team's final game of the season, Kent State is in an all-too-familiar situation. Last season, the team went into their final home game against Buffalo. Having a losing record, they needed a win to keep their bowl bid dreams alive. This season, they don't have a chance at a bowl. But still want a win over MAC East leader Ohio.

The Bobcats are a tough final test for a team that is playing for pride. The last game for many players, including Eugene Jarvis. The sixth year Senior called the final game a "bittersweet" moment and wants to go out with a win.

The team will return some help, with Ishmaa'ily Kitchen returning to the starting lineup. After missing most of the season with a tricep injury, he will get to start next to his roommate and graduating tackle, Quinton Rainey. Coaching staff also announced that Luneric Muldrow will start as the team's third receiver, his first start of the season.

Doug Martin and his staff want to win, but also want to highlight their graduating seniors. 14 in total, 9 of which have been starters this season. It could also be Martin's last game, although the entire Athletic Department has stayed quiet on the issue.

This marks Martin's seventh season, another year with a losing record. In fact, a potentially worse record that last year's 5-7 season. With a new Athletic Director and the football department taking control of the team's recruiting efforts, some view it as a vote of no confidence.

All will be decided after the team plays the Ohio Bobcats Saturday. In front of what is expected to be the team's biggest crowd of the year.

Tough loss man, Can't believe Boise State won't be playing for a fucking national championship game even though they're undefeated.

Yeah it was a rough way to end the season. As for Boise State, there is still one more week and the Conference Championships. They need two of the three in front of them to lose. I don't see Wisconsin losing, but Alabama still has to play Florida in the SEC Championship game. And West Virginia has Rutgers, which could be tough. Who knows.

Really? Because it's happened thrice in the last five years. Ended up with them winning two Fiesta Bowls (over OU and TCU) and losing a Poinsettia Bowl (against TCU).
