The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired left winger Brett MacLean(76OV) from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for defenseman Brett Ledba(77OV). This move gives the Leafs some scoring depth. Brett MacLean scored 30 goals and 65 points last year with the Coyotes farm team, the San Antonio Rampage.

With the pre-season coming to a close, moves had to be made before the NHL Regular Season began on October 7th. As a result of these moves, LW Brett MacLean has been sent down to the Toronto Marlies to improve his game. It was shown in the pre-season that he is not ready to produce numbers like he did in the AHL at the NHL level and will need more time spent in the AHL to develop that goal scoring ability.

Nazem Kadri, the Maple Leafs 7th overall pick in the 2009 Entry Draft was also sent back to London. He posted 1 assist in 4 games playing on a line with Colby Armstrong and Kris Versteeg.

Jeff Finger was also sent to waivers, but cleared and was sent to the Marlies.
