The Miami Heat 2011-2012 Season Review

After a quite season last year, the Heat rebounded this year and finished the regular season 60-22. That got them first place in the Eastern Conference. One of the biggest reasons for that success was Michael Beasley. He averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks a game while shooting 60% from the field.

Dwyane Wade averaged 19 points a game with 7 assists and 1 steal and block a game. Role players like J.R. Smith (12.8PPG) and DerMarr Johnson (10.9PPG) also had great seasons.

Shaun Livingston continued to lead the Heat offense all year and averaged 7 assists a game to go along with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal.

Andris Biedrins helped anchor the paint with Michael Beasley, averaging 9 points a game with 7 rebounds and a block per game.

Dwyane Wade won the MVP award this season. Michael Beasley and Dwyane Wade were named to the All NBA First team as well. Last but not least, Dwyane Wade was also on the All Defensive second team.

In the playoffs the Heat faced a Pacers team who barely got into the playoffs. They easily beat them 4-1.

Next round they found themselves against the new look Nets. With a starting 5 consisting of Devin Harris, Chris Douglas Roberts, Shawn Marion, Pau Gasol, and Brook Lopez with Mario Chalmers coming off the bench, the Heat knew they had their hands full with these Nets.

Despite being a great team on paper, the Heat easily swept the Nets, giving them an Eastern Conference Finals match-up against the division rival Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks came off a seven game series against the Magic were they barely squeaked out of game 7.

With the Heat about to clinch the 2-0 lead in the series, tragedy struck as Sean Williams went down with a torn Achilles. That was a huge blow for the Heat as the Hawks took advantage and won 4 straight games to advance to the NBA Finals against the 6 seeded Warriors.

The Warriors and Carlos Boozer would end up winning the NBA Finals 4-1 and that would mark the end of the 2011-2012 NBA season.

LC, great chise man. Kept up with it when I could, enjoyed it when I did. Can't say that there are too many people out there that would go this far, and grind it out like you have over the past year with this game. You set a standard for 2k10. No doubt in my mind that you're deserving of a VSN Hall of Fame spot. Congrats!
