J-League turned down, Matteo breaks Napoli contract
It hasn't been a good stretch for our beloved Matteo. However, if this is the worst it gets for Matteo - our mindset is that he will find a team that needs true help, and he will start for them.
What went wrong: Even though it wasn't well documented (my bad), head coach for Napoli, Francesco Totti, chose more Italians on his side than he did "foreigners" - it may be slightly ridiculous to make that assumption - but only two non-Italians have started this year. How could Matteo break out of the bench with this pattern?
Where to next: It's been 3 weeks, Matteo has had offers from AC Siena, Chievo Verona and last place, AS Bari.
The Decision: It was not a hard decision, Matteo recently visited this club's facilities on a family vacation - and loved the location of the stadium - which is located below ground level. WIth rich tradition, but never reaching the highest peak - AC Siena have offered Matteo 310 P - and the striker has gladly accepted.

On the Bench
AC Siena's #14 suits up against Livornio
I have no problem with the kit number, number 14 was worn by some great players right...Thierry Henry...um...Theo Walcott?
Honestly it's worse than 13 - which is what Matteo wore once, but eitherway I'm sure he will do well for Siena. They are struggling right now, but things can only pick up. They have a good striker that Matteo ocould partner with in Maccarone - and of course defensive mid, Vergassola.
Unfortunately for Matteo, he will be competing off the bench with veteran Ghezzal - who was last year's top scorer for the side.
Eitherway, in progress now is the Livornio match, currently 0-0 in the 10th minute, update shortly, my friends.

BITTERSWEET VICTORY FOR SIENA

A much needed win for AC Siena was in order, after the play of Maccarone was hailed as a great "first half effort", because the striker was sidelined for 2 weeks with an ankle injury as soon as he set up the first goal for the Bianconeri. Maccarone's shot from distance deflected off the cross bar, and fell to the fortunate feet of Ekdal - who made no mistake.
After Maccarone's injury, Lam Matteo would make his debut for the club. And it would be Matteo who set up the next goal by Calaio. The American international placed a perfect pass into the path of the Italian - who cooly slipped the ball past De Lucia.
Unfortunately, the debut for the American would be cut shortly due to the striker being sent off after committing two blatant slide tackles. Matteo stated after the match, "I thought this league was for tough men." - which has fallen under scrutiny since he uttered the words. Manager Oliver Bierhoff has not commented on any disciplinary action as of yet.
"The fact is we won, we lost two players unfortunately - but next week Napoli will not be an easy task - we needed this momentum to carry into that game."

Winning the match was the only concern for all of Siena, after all defeatinga power house like Lazio would surely catapult a streak to get the club back to their winning ways.
Unfortunately, Lazio's attack was deadly - and thanks to a two goal performance by Pandev - Oliver Bierhoff's AC Siena were more than outmatched.

FREE KICK SPECIALIST, MUTU, LIFTS FIORENTINA PAST SIENA

AC Siena were not expected to win such a lop sided affair, however the visitors did well to keep out the goals in the first half, however it was Adrian Mutu who decided tonight would be his night as the veteran striker scored two simpy stunning free kicks to edge out the visitors.
Mutu caused some confusion by the Siena defense, and when the striker was through on goal - the mix up resulted in Terzi performing a desperation sliding tackle, which crunched the striker more than the ball itself.
As a result, the defender was sent off, and the striker would set up for the free kick. A beautiful curling outside of the post shot, left the Siena keeper, Curci, with nothing to grasp at but air.
pictured: Mutu (Fiorentina)
Mutu's second goal was one that proved the striker could score on the left side of the pitch as well - a "David Beckham" free kick, as the striker calls it, was perfectly struck - and once again Curci was no match.
The visitors notched a goal back thanks to a well taken free kick from the captain, Vergassola - however the damage was done, and in the 92nd minute Siena's last gasp effort was in the form of American midfielder, Lam Matteo, as his blast from outside the box was saved comfortably by Sebastian Frey.
Another loss in the books for AC Siena, there is still plenty of football left, but Oliver Bierhoff's side could see some changes for the next match against in Turin, versus Juventus.
"I feel we lost this one as a team, they had an outstanding dispaly from the striker, Mutu - but it was against the run of play - so I cannot give the man all the credit. We had a good performance despite the score."

TOP TIER JUVE TOO MUCH FOR SIENA
Johnson Peoples, siena.ac.it

The weather was not kind to the visitors, Siena, and neither were the home team Juventus. The second place Serie A side dismantled the Siena defense to shreds, showing why they are a top class side - and Siena is, well...Siena football club.
The first goal came as early as the second minute, on Juve's first possession of the match - the Siena defenders seemed a step slower than Amauri the entire match - and the striker could not miss tonight - he low drive struck the inside of the post, and nesteld in.
pictured: Lam Matteo (AC Siena)
There was pressure from the visitors though, and it came through the sure foot of American midfielder, Lam Matteo. Matteo was the orchestrator in making the Juventus defense look a bit off key by displaying some tricky through passes. Matteo also came close from 20-yards out to grab a goal back in the 10th minute, but the shot sailed high and wide of Buffon's goal.
In the end, Amauri had the best luck in front of goal - tricking the Siena defenders inside the box, and looking cool as ever in his finishing. There was no chance for Olvier Bierhoff's side to escape Turin with any sense of victory.
"Flat out destroyed tonight. They are a top side, and it was proven within the first couple of minutes of this match. All we can do from here is focus on the next match."

SIENA END LOSING STREAK, SHOW POTENTIAL
Johnson Peoples, siena.ac.it

Siena's five game losing streak, that begun with a 3-1 loss to Napoli, was finally put to rest tonight as the side took care of a struggling Parma side, 2-0.
The match was dominated by the home side from the start, and players like Lam Matteo were imperssive early. Matteo has quickly shined in his short time ever since being picked up on transfer from Napoli in the January transfer window.
The opening goal was not scored by Matteo, but the American did help set up the goal after his strong pursuit of the Parma defenders paid off when Castellini's poor dribbling was punished. Matteo then found an open teammate in Maccarone, who then found an unlikely candidate, the defender Terzi - who's one time shot was not expected by his teammates, let alone the Parma keeper, Pavarini.
Before the keeper knew it, Terzi was already celebrating the opening goal with his teammates.
pictured: Calaio (AC Siena)
Matteo was part of the second goal as well when his deft touch into space found the run of striker Calaio. The Italian forward sprinted past the defenders before finishing with a cheeky chip over the diving Pavarini.
Oliver Bierhoff's men finally showed some potential to become a top tier team in the Serie A, but the true test will come next week with a red hot Bolgna come into town.
"This was the way we have wanted to play all season. I expect this to be the norm the rest of the way."

Oh moving again
Matteo opts to leave Italy, where to next?
We haven't updated Matteo in quite a while, there's no true reason, in all honesty there could have been a strike made up - but there wasn't. Actually, Matteo, now 30 years old, has had a pressing issue on his mind - with two options that could define the player's career...
The following options have been offered, and are ready for Matteo to sign on the dotted line.
Option 1:
Offered to be player-manager for Korean side, FC Seoul. The side has recently let go of faithful manager Kim Jong Wan after some questionable photos seeped through the crack and into the hands of Korean free press.
Matteo will be offered a manager's salary, but with a domestic player's bonus (min. $80,000).
Option 2:
Offered to be a manager for MLS side, Kansas City Wizards. This offer would sand if Matteo does in fact decide to retire.
Matteo, as a manger, will be offered $50,000 salary, and also become the youngest manager in charge in the history of the league.
**wanted to let people know, that this is being converted to FIFA 11**

Wolves sign Matteo as new manager
The golden boy is back
by Mark Schwarzer last updated 1 April 2021
Matteo has put pen to paper in a completely unexpected deal
The saga that is Lam Matteo has continued, but seems to be going backwards as the 30-year old has agreed to terms to be the next Wolverhampton manager, where as just two years ago, the American played on the left wing of this club. Matteo has not officially stated his retirement yet either.
"Things are up in the air for my playing career," states Matteo, "However, I know my role now from a managerial point of view. Win games, and get back to the premiership."
After only coming away with 5 wins last year under Owen Coyle, the critics of Wolves have the impression that Matteo will have worse luck, and there could be a chance they stay in the Championship (npower Champ league) longer than expected.
Nontheless, an exciting bit of news for Wolves faithful. Matteo, who scored 15 goals for Wolves through 2 seasons, has already dived into the transfer market, and just like an attacker would, he has signaled his intent to find the "perfect" forward.
Good luck, Matteo!

Introduction: npower Championship
The Teams and expections
by Mark Schwarzer last updated 1 April 2021
Leeds united's long journey back to the Premiership could come true.
Matt10: Considering it is the 2020 season, there has been some changes. Also, for those that do not know, Matteo's journey continues in FIFA 11. It just seems to be a better game, especially now that he's a manager.
npower Champ (1 below the Premiership)
1.Leeds Untied - expected to win the entire thing, a very steady hand by having no other than Bob Bradley (ex-USA coach) to lead them to the top.
2.QPR - they have waffled back and forth throughout the years, but this could be the year.
3.Southampton - the glory days of Pahars could return as the veteran is in his second stint with the club as manager. Who could go wrong with a squad that he has at his disposal.
4.Charlton - always a club that hangs around, but when it matters the most, they lack the mutli goal count that is required to surpass the league leaders.
5.Derby County - same as Charlton, they hang around - but without an established striker who won't get picked up by the bigger clubs, Derby will stay put.
6.Ipswich Town - one of the few clubs that is still considered an underdog despite winning the premiership once in 1961.
7.Millwall - no expectations, they have had their chances, but even the faithful supporters are hoping for a top 10 finish only.
8.Wolverhampton - with debut manager Lam Matteo, the expectation can be to not get relegated. Matteo may have scored plenty for the club, but as a manager, he can't go past that white line.
