Midnight in Paris | A PSG Franchise

PARIS – With Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) just recently becoming the sole shareholders of French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, team president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, announced there would be major changes. The first big move came today when the team announced now ex-manger, Antoine Kombouare, was fired in favor of the American, tbuc. tbuc doesn't have any experience coaching in Europe, but played a key role in the U.S. Men's youth club system before arriving in Paris.

“We feel by hiring tbuc, we can get this club more exposure in the United States. Football is starting to become more popular over there and more matches are being shown on television. He has some ties with the U.S. youth system, plus we plan on added some quality players over this transfer period and hope to gain further exposure by having a handful of our matches broadcasted on American television networks,” explained Al-Khelaifi.

With the new change at manger and the announcement by the president claiming the squad plans to add additional quality, top class players expectations are beginning to raise. New manager tbuc had this to say about what he expects this season in Paris, “This team already has a few quality player on the roster, so we don’t feel we have to go out and pay for overpriced stars. We will be busy looking to bring in world class talent, but only for the right price. Our goal is to qualify for the Champions League next season and eventually turn this club into one of the best in the world.”

Dutch defender van der Wiel heading to PSG

Gregory van der Wiel being introduced as the newest member of Paris Saint-Germain.

                July 9, 2012

PARIS – Just two weeks after becoming the new manger at Paris Saint-Germain, tbuc introduced his first signing of the summer transfer window. Dutch right back Gregory van der Wiel joins the club after spending five years at Ajax. “I am proud to announce van der Wiel as my first signing,” expressed tbuc with a big smile on his face. He continued by saying, “we feel he is one of the top full backs in the world and at 23 years of age he not only has experience at the club level, but at the international level as well."

Gregory van der Wiel has made 20 appearances for the Dutch national team including five in the last World Cup. He was also apart of the team when they lost to Spain in the 2010 World Cup Final. Also in 2010, van der Wiel was given the annual Johan Crujiff Award for “Young Player of the Year” in the Netherlands.

tbuc concluding the press conference by saying, “With such great pace, we see van der Wiel as a continuous threat running up and down for right side of the pitch. We expect him to be in the starting eleven ever game, beginning with our first friendly in a week.”

There was a glitch in my last game. After I bought Higuan from Real Madrid I got the email saying the deal was done, so I went to set my lineup and he wasn't there. So I back out and saw this...

For a second I thought maybe Man U outbid me and for some reason the game sent me an email saying I got him. But then I see this, so I know I won the bid...

So I go to the transfer section to type in his name to see if he is at least listed on Man U's roster which he was. I wouldn't have cared, but I lost the $35.5M in transfer funds and $200,000 in weekly wages which is nearly 2/3 of the money I had left.

I reset the franchise. Roster and schedule are still the same, but obliviously the transfers aren't. So I'll keep using this thread, but for those following (if any!) scroll up about three post and reread those as I've edited those.

Thought on the van der Wiel signing?

I'm still going after Higuain hard. This time he's going to cost even more! I'd say it would be used against him by opposing fans just because Argentina is so much deeper upfront compared to France. If he played for France he be one of there best players. Now if he's not in top form guys like Tevez, Lavezzi, Aguero would all play ahead of him. I'm sure fans would let him know that too.

Gonzalo Higuain talks to the media in Madrid before boarding a flight to Paris

PARIS – PSG’s new manger make his second signing today, this one a little more memorable. The story first broke by ESPN earlier this morning, it was announced that Gonzalo Higuain would be making the switch from Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain. A deal that was worth $37,000,000. The official new conference is scheduled for tomorrow as Higuain, just 23 years old, has just recently sign his new contract for 5-years worth $250,000 a week.

Gonzalo Higuain is a native of France. Born to an Argentinean father, Gonzalo elected to represent his father’s home country on the international level. As apart of the Argentine national team, Higuain has scored eight goals in 12 caps, including four goals in as many games during the 2010 World Cup.
