Lenexa Falcons HS enter play offs, seniors get more time to shine
Rick Cola - The Johnson County Sun report
              November 1, 2010

Lenexa, Ks -- Senior year is full of fun for most high schoolers, and after all is said and done everyone goes off to college and do their thing. Most of the time, sports is the main pull of where to go - except for the Lenexa Falcons football program, where only 5 players in the last 4 years has gone to play college football.

The reason for this is unkown, but it's easy to think that if they had more time to show what they're capable of, the colleges would bite and offer scholarships. The problem with time is that the Falcons have always had their potential season cut short - making the play offs just once in the last 10 years.

Last Friday, the victory over Colby (0-6) propelled the Falcons into the play offs, giving seniors more time to pad their resume.

"It's nice to have made history for the school," says senior free safety, Matt LeCamp, "You grind it out throughout the year, and we go lucky despite a poor record - now it's time to make it count."

LeCamp has several colleges looking at him, of course the main attraction to the Falcons' number 10 is the name "LeCamp" which as everyone knows if of his NFL Hall of Fame dad, Matt LeCamp Sr.

LeCamp also has potential to be one of KU's future stars if he chooses to go to the fluttering program.

              "I'm not going to KU."

              Scratch That.

The first game of the play offs will pit Lenexa HS (5-4) against Salina (8-1) here at the LDSC (Lenexa District Sports Complex) at 8 PM.

Rocky Mountain Showdown to be played at Folsom Field

Boulder,CO -- Rams fans may be disheartened, but due to the current renovations being done to Invesco Field in Denver, the decision was made for the Pac-12 Colorado Buffaloes to host their in-state rivals, the Colorado State Rams.

"It's tough enough playing a team in a much more prestigious football conference," says Rams head coach Steve Fairchild, "Honestly, though, there's nothing else we could have done. It's not like the biggest game of the season for us was not going to get played."

The Buffaloes come into the game with a 1-0 record after a shootout in Hawaii, while the Rams are looking to get into a winning record, currently sitting at 1-1 on the season.

Stewart suffers dislocated elbow, out for 5 weeks

Boulder,CO -- Prognosis was not good for senior running back, Rodney Stewart. The preseason all american has been placed on the injury report for the next 5 weeks after dislocating his elbow in practice Wednesday afternoon.

"This is a painful blow to our offense," says quarterback Tyler Hansen, "Rodney is our rock in carrying the rock. We will have to stay strong and get the job done somehow."

Backing up Stewart is red-shirt freshman, Tony Jones, who is has high expectations for his debut against the Ohio State Buckeyes tomorrow night.

"I will carry this team, and I will make a name for myself. We are without a leader, but I can step up, I'm confident coach has made the right decision in placing me over anyone else."

Jones has had a good practice, and has served as an adequate backup in this young season, but the true test will be against the ferocious defense of the Buckeyes; only time can tell if the freshman can get the job done.
