TEXAS LONGHORNS (7-4, 5-3)
VS.
TCU HORNED FROGS (6-4, 4-4)
TURNOVER WOES CONTINUE AS TCU STOMPS TEXAS
THE LONGHORNS COMMITTED SIX TURNOVERS IN THEIR REGULAR SEASON FINALE LOSS
A promising season ended in disappointment on Saturday as the Longhorns lost their third straight game to an in-state foe in as many weeks. Up against Big XII newcomer TCU, Texas committed six costly turnovers in a lopsided 42-14 loss. Case McCoy continued to struggle at quarterback, completing just 7 of 24 passes for 88 yards, and throwing four interceptions. Groundwise, Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron combined for 120 yards and a touchdown off 27 carries. Texas' defense recorded two sacks and an interception, and limited the Horned Frogs to 316 total offensive yards, but the offensive turnovers negated all of their hard work. As for TCU, junior quarterback Casey Pachall completed 75% of his 20 passes for 122 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, and also rushed for 33 yards and another score while runningbacks Matthew Tucker and Waymon James combined for 156 yards and two touchdowns off 34 carries. With a turnover differential of -11, the Longhorns finished 116th in the league in that category. After matching their win total from a year ago, the Longhorns will rest in the final week of the regular season as they await the news of which bowl they will be heading to in the postseason.

MEINEKE CAR CARE BOWL OF TEXAS
.....
INDIANA HOOSIERS (7-5, 4-5)
VS.
TEXAS LONGHORNS (7-5, 5-4)
In a case of the final score not truly telling the full story, the Longhorns walked away from the Meineke Car Care Bowl with a 32-20 victory over Indiana, but dominated their opponents in every fact of the game. Case McCoy led the offense like a seasoned pro, Malcolm Brown was nearly unstoppable on the ground, and the defense was a brick wall as Texas ended 2012 on a high note with their 8th win of the season.
Hoping to solidify his spot as the team's starter next year, junior quarterback Case McCoy completed 21 of his 39 passes for 279 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception to finish with a QB rating of 134.1. His go-to man was true sophomore Jaxon Shipley, who had a team-leading nine catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns, while senior Marquise Goodwin went out on top with four catches for 117 yards and a score. On the ground, true sophomore Malcolm Brown capped off a great season with 164 yards and a touchdown off 23 carries, averaging 7.1 yards per touch, and senior backup runningback Joe Bergeron ended his collegiate career with 61 yards off 12 carries. Defensively, the Longhorns recorded one sack, limited Indiana to 215 total offensive yards, allowed just one successful conversion on nine 3rd down tries, held their opponent to six points in two redzone trips, and did not allow a single offensive touchdown. Indiana returned an interception and a kickoff for touchdowns in the game.
On the other side of the ball, there wasn't much to be happy about. Sophomore QB Tre Robinson completed just 6 of 21 passes for 104 yards, and managed only 29 rushing yards on nine carries. Speaking of the ground game, junior runningback Stephen Houston was limited to 62 yards off 11 carries. Defensively, the Hoosiers recorded six sacks and an interception, and must also be applauded for allowing only 32 points despite giving up 524 total offensive yards.
Another year of Longhorns football is in the books, but there will be plenty of work in the offseason. The future of Major Applewhite as the team's head coach is still up in the air, and the quarterback position is still not entirely settled. But most of the team's key players will be returning next year, so look for a much improved squad that will hope to compete for a Big XII title in 2013.
