Jamie Carragher Announces Retirement-
Longtime Liverpool defenseman Jamie Carragher announced today that he will be retiring at his contract's end. This comes as a little bit of a surprise, though it could not have been completely unexpected. Carragher just isn't the stalwart he used to be in the Liverpool back line, and because of that, he recently found himself no longer in the first team picture. His role on this team during his final season seems to be one of a mentor as new coach Brendan Rodgers attempts to successfully bring Liverpool back to form.
Andy Carroll Shipped to West Ham Temporarily-
When he was brought in, he was expected to form a super duo with striker Luis Suarez, however the 23 year old Andy Carroll has not lived up to his end of the bargain. While the spending spree now looks like a failure, Carroll is being sent off to Premier League foe West Ham to see if they can get him back into form with their first team.
Jay Spearing Not Making the First 11-
As a result of not making the first eleven, Liverpool have elected to send Jay Spearing out on loan to the Bolton Wanderers. Rumors have it that the two teams may be looking to make this move permanent as Spearing has been said to like it with the Premier League foes.
Liverpool Benefits From La Liga Surplus-
Nuri Sahin may not be in the starting 11 over in Real Madrid, perennial La Liga powerhouse, but he sure will be in the picture while on loan at Liverpool for the 2012-13 season. The 23 year-old midfielder has been said to be one of the "most promising players in the future". The future is now for the youngster as he jumps into a team with much history and immediate expectations.

Friendlies Announced:
Liverpool announced today that they would be playing three friendlies before their 2012 Premier League season got underway. Two will be at home, first against Pescara Calcio an Italian Serie A team and then against Real Madrid (rumored to be part of the agreement on the Nuri Sahin loan). Those two games will sandwich an away game against the French LOSC Lille.
The three games give new manager Brendan Rodgers a great chance to see what he has. He has not announced who will receive what playing time yet, but with the match rules of the three staying consistent with professional play (only three substitutions) chances are that we won't be seeing too many moves early on in games. Pre-game strategizing and planning will be a must for the new man in charge.

Liverpool vs. Pescara: Preseason Game 1
Note on Suarez Injury:
After the match it was deemed that Suarez had merely twisted his ankle. "It wasn't horrible, but we needed to get him out there to avoid any further injury," Rodgers explained. "He could have played if it was a game of significance, and he'll be in the lineup in a few days, perhaps as a sub though."

Carlos Tevez to Inter-
Inter announced on their official website that they have completed the transfer of Carlos Tevez from Manchester City for a fee of $30,000,000. The 28-year old striker from Argentina enjoyed a fruitful spell at his former club, Manchester City, and joins his new team-mates with a glowing reputation as a player who can add a little something extra to any team he plays for.
His new manager was over the moon with his new signing. "I can't wait to get him in the team and start working with him. He is going to give us a big boost and the extra motivation that we have been sorely lacking in recent weeks," he said outside the club's training facilities.
Initial reports suggest that the player will receive a $200,000 salary in his new club.
When asked about the deal, Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers said, "Tevez is a great player, no doubt, but there's still many weapons to be had on City. They're nothing to joke about and when we see them in a few weeks, I'm sure they'll be as strong as ever. We need to take the next two games to prepare for our opener against West Brom, and then we'll worry about Arsenal, and then we'll talk about City."

Joe Cole Being Shopped?-
Rumor has it today that following their final preseason game, and victory over Real Madrid, that Liverpool has listed midfielder Joe Cole for transfer. Early reports suggest that they were not impressed by his control of the pitch from the middle and are looking to get a bit of value for the player who is on the latter end of his prime at 30 years old. Cole is currently on a $6,500,000 contract while being paid $45,000 weekly. Our sources in the front office indicate that someone along the back line of team may also soon be listed as 22 year old Martin Kelly seems to be ready to take over a position on the pitch.
UPDATE: Cole was just sold to EPL foe Queens Park Rangers for a sum of $6,800,000. Rodgers commented on the deal by saying "It's great to see that we could come to an arrangement over the lad's future. Not only are we happy, but so is Cole and that's the main thing." With Liverpool losing the attacking midfielder, fans will be looking to see if the manager will make sure of the new funds during the transfer window.
