Heat set to defend NBA Championship in 2012-13

The Miami Heat have celebrated it, they have savored it and now it is time to defend it.

The 2012 NBA Champion Miami Heat will return to the floor in a full 82-game season looking to build on last year's success and continue on their way to becoming a dynasty. Head coach Erik Spoelstra has emphasized playing even faster this season, and that should be made possible as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and most of last year's Heat team are back in the mix.

Miami has added sharpshooter Ray Allen, from the rival Boston Celtics, to the mix as well as veteran forward Rashard Lewis, making Miami one of the deepest and most lethal teams in the league.

2012-2013 New Orleans Hornets Season Preview

The New Orleans Hornets lucked out in the 2012 NBA Draft lottery, earning the No. 1 overall selection and the chance to select Davis. He is expected to be the centerpiece of the rebuilding process for the Hornets. Perhaps what is even more important though is that they were able to keep Gordon by matching the Phoenix Suns' offer sheet for him.

There is clearly some talent on this team. Not only did New Orleans get Davis, but it also drafted Austin Rivers and traded for Anderson, the reigning Most Improved Player of the Year. It's pretty evident that New Orleans is not going to be all that good this year. That said, it should be entertaining watching the team's young players develop. That said, everyone seems to be so high on Davis, but I am not sold on him. I can certainly see the potential, but I think there are plenty of question marks surrounding the kid, one being his obvious lack of size.

This is essentially a lost year for New Orleans in terms of trying to contend for a playoff spot, but the good news is that the club will probably be bad enough to have a chance at yet another No. 1 pick in the draft. If Gordon's knee holds up and Davis develops into what many expect him to be, the Hornets may end up being a very nice team in a couple of years. Still, they have a long way to go.

Played a few more games and realized this team will most likely just miss the playoffs so I'm just going to get into the offseason.
