    AROUND THE LEAGUE WEEK ONE
Ed Reed has re-signed with the Ravens for an additional three seasons worth $24.0M

The NFL was filled with excited as we kicked off the season on Sunday, for sixteen teams, they are on track to where they want to go, the other sixteen teams find themselves back to the drawing board to figure out how to adjust to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start. Tom Brady and the Patriots were able to start the season off on the right foot, defeating Tennessee 27-17, Tom Brady threw his three hundredth and third touchdown pass of his career so far, putting him 5th all-time on the passing touchdown charts. But there is not all smiles in New England as they suffered a loss of their own, RB Stevan Ridley broke his thumb during Sundays action and will miss three weeks. Until then, Danny Woodhead will be called upon to take the majority of the carries until Stevan can get back on the field. The oustanding performances of the week defensively go to Lions Kyle Vanden Bosch who earned himself the NFC DPOW with his seven tackles, one sack, one interception for a touchdown, which helped carve a 37-17 victory over St. Louis. The AFC side goes to another underwhelming veteran; Paul Posluszny who played a terrific game despite falling short to Minnesota 37-30 on Sunday. Posluszny racked in seven tackles, and two interceptions. The offensive stars of the week went to two more notable players in the NFL; LeSean McCoy on the NFC side and Ben Roethlisberger on the NFC side. McCoy rushed for two hundred and seven yards of a mere fifteen carries for two scores on the ground. He also caught one for forty-one yards and a touchdown in their Sunday showdown win over Cleveland. Ben Roethlisberger looked like himself, 19-25 for three hundred and forty-five yards all while tossing up four big ones and just one interception in their big win over Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

Injuries plagued the NFL this week, as ten starters from various teams went down from injury, the Chargers took the biggest hit, losing their two starting LB's in Takeo Spikes and Antwan Barnes. Their defense is already wobbly as is, the two will be out for a combined thirty-two weeks! Barnes has been placed on IR and Spikes is expected to miss about two months of play, so his return may be too late as the Chargers could fall deep behind. The Raiders offensive line is in shambles, when they lost starting RT Khalif Barnes for the year, they lost starting RG Mike Brisiel for the season as well. If things couldn't have already gotten worse to a organization that is in the hot seat, they have these past few weeks. Look for the Raiders to sign someone to replace these two.

Lastly, contract negotiations have been floating around for awhile, and we know that Ray Rice signed a six-year deal for sixty-three million dollars with the Ravens to lock up his future. They also signed Ed Reeds likely final contract for three more seasons worth twenty-four million dollars. Jacksonville also locked up on of their assets known as Daryl Smith to a six year deal as well, worth fifty-two million dollars. There have been rumors surfacing about Greg Jennings and the Packers organization getting a deal done. Jennings is on his final year of his deal and will be a free agent come February if he does not re-sign.

        Pardon the interruption Week 2

        QUICK ALERT
The Chicago Bears have just picked up DT Albert Haynesworth off free agency a few hours ago. League sources say they have been in talks with the ex-probowler for the past couple days. The signing comes largely in part of the injuries they have suffered at the DT spot this season, losing their two starting DT's, Amobi Okoye and Matt Toeaina to injury for the season. Albert Haynesworth has been hazardous to teams for the past few seasons due in large to his bad work ethic and attitude both on and off the field. He never panned out in a 3-4 system at Washington, luckily for him, Haynesworth will be playing in his preferred 4-3 defense with a great supporting cast with Julius Peppers who will be coming off of an injury shortly and Israel Idonije. Haynesworth will be starting alongside Stephen Paea, the 2nd year player from Oregon State who broke the Bench Press record at his combine during his draft two seasons ago. "I'm glad to be back in football, I want to show everyone I can still play. I want to show myself." an eager Haynesworth said over a phone interview. Haynesoworth will get his first action against division rivals Green Bay Packers, the best way to win the fans and the team over? Keep Aaron on the ground.

          NFL Week two vs Bears

          GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE
Pulse pounder in Lambeau leads to a last second field goal, signings galore, Nick Collins return cut short

Matt Forte stretching out for the score but coming up just inches short of the touchdown.

Last night we saw a vintage Bears-Packers matchup that couldn’t have gotten much better in terms of a defensive twelve round fight. Each team landed their share of right hooks in this matchup but only one team, as always, was able to come out on top. Jay Cutler and his Bears opened up the game on offense first, On the first play of the drive Forte was able to break a twenty yard scamper, this was the start of Fortes big night. The Packer D started to buckle down and forced the Bears to settle for a Robbie Gould field-goal. Three-Nothing Bears. The Packers would look to match the Bears, and they did just that. Rodgers was able to get his team into scoring position despite going down three times on that drive. This would be the only action in the first quarter. The third would not see much more until Aaron Rodgers orchestrated a beautiful drive where he went six for six in the passing column, capping the drive off with a touchdown pass to rookie, Randall Cobb. The Packers would take their first lead of the game, seven minutes before halftime. Jay Cutler would then take their right hook, going on a five minute drive to travel seventy-five yards, the Packers D has shone life when backed up in the redzone and they did exactly that, but a tight bullet pass across the middle of the endzone to Brandon Marshall would tie the game up at ten a piece. With two minutes before half Aaron would do what he does, in those two minutes he put Mason Crosby in a risky field goal range, from sixty yards out! The field goal would fall short and the half would end. At this point Aaron Rodgers had completed thirteen-straight passes.

Packers would take the helm on offense following halftime but a Cedric Benson fumble at midfield would derail those plans. The very next play is very well the most incredible play ever witnessed. Linebacker Brad Jones on the Packers would then intercept a pitch intended for Matt Forte! By jumping the snap count along the edge and plucking the ball right out of the air before it reached Fortes hands. This would set Rodgers up to throw a beautiful sixty yard fade to Jordy Nelson to take a seventeen-ten lead with just over eight remaining in the third. Bears would march right down, but once again the Packer goalline defense would step up, this time Nick Perry getting a key sack on third down to force yet another Robbie Gould field goal. Packers still up 17-13. But on the Packers very next play, Rodgers would throw an errant pass right into the hands of Geno Hayes, marking his first interception on the season. With the Bears in great field position, they would drive to the Packer five, where they would yet again get sacked on third down forcing them to settle for yet another field goal! Seventeen to sxteen Packers still. Chicago would eventually get another shot, wasting no time by hitting Devin Hester on a deep corner route to put their foot in the doorstep on Greenbays one. Greenbay would put on another fierceful goalline stand!! At this point Jay Cutler was livid, and for good reason, but this would cost him as he failed to get the play off on third down and suffered an awful delay of game penalty putting them back to Greenbays eight. On third and eight they would run it would Forte who would have put Chicago on top if it weren’t for Charles Woodsons game saving tackle keeping him inches away from paydirt. Robbie Gould would take yet another fieldgoal, but this would put the bears in the lead nineteen to seventeen with just over six remaining in regulation. Greenbay offense will sputter and have to punt it right back to Cutler. Cutler wastes no time by gashing the Packer D with a quick toss to Forte out of the gun. This would lead to a third and eleven at Packers thirty-two. Packers will stop them and Bears commit another errant penalty pushing Robbie Gould back five yards, which is enough to make Robbie Goulds kick sail just far left enough to miss! With a minute and a half remaining the Packers offense will see the field again, Nelson makes a spectacular one handed catch in triple coverage around his own players for a twenty yard gain and knocking on Chicago’s side. Just outside of range Rodgers will run for four yards and then hit Cobb on the next play for another ten followed by a screen. A thirty two yard fieldgoal will win them the game, and as time expires they do just that and Packers edge out in yet another historic rivalry game to take the win twenty to nineteen.

            GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE
Packers go toe-to-toe against the Seahawks, Greg Jennings future in GB solidified, stars return from injury

Another NFC slug fest for the Packers against the Seattle Seahawks resulted in another memorable game to look back on, Rodgers, not so much as he would throw two interceptions this game. The Packers would see the field first, a rare run that broke out was unfortunately called back. But a key third down to Nelson would keep them on the first, but not for long as their second third down conversion would not be successful. Greenbays defense would welcome Russell Wilson to the NFL by a textbook strip sack done by AJ Hawk. Wilson would begin to think twice about roaming out of the pocket next time. That wasn’t the only greeting, LeRoy Hill would then welcome Rodgers to Seattle by picking him off, pass intended for Jermichael Finley. The Seattle offense wouldn’t do much and would punt the ball right back. Seattles defense would continue to match Greenbays by putting Rodgers on the ground. Greenbay would put the first points on the board after a Rodgers to Nelson reception for forty yards followed by a two yard quick hitter to Finley in the endzone. Seven-zip for the Pack. Seattle would continue to struggle to move the chains, thankfully Aaron Rodgers would give the ball away, throwing yet another pick. This would put Seattle on the Packer doorstep with a minute and a half remaining in the half. But the Seahawks would only be able to mustard up a field goal after that golden opportunity. Seven-Three Packers at half.

The Seahawks would take the field in the second half starting on their own twenty-three. Russell Wilson begins to command his team downfield, eating up precious time. But as we’ve seen week in and week out, the Packers would prevent them from getting a single yard from inside their own three yard line. Seattle would settle for another three putting the game at seven to six Packs still with six and a half remaining in the third. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers would continue to struggle to get anything going, they punt it back to Seattle. On their third play of the drive a slant to Edwards on busted coverage would go all the way for fifty-nine yards and six points to take the lead finally, and go up fourteen to seven. At the start of the fourth quarter the Packers get into Seattle territory on their thirty-eight. Aaron Rodgers will quickly strive downfield but a clamp down on Seattles side sees Aaron Rodgers at a third and eleven on Seattle’s eleven yard line. Rodgers hits Jordy in coverage for a TD off of a post route. Game is all squared at fourteen a piece with eleven remaining in the fourth. On Seattles very first play Marshawn Lynch would go untouched for eighty big ones and a touchdown. Breaking the hearts of Packers fans. But it got worse, on the Packers ensuing drive, LeRoy Hill would once again greet Rodgers, but this time saying goodbye. LeRoy would pick off a Jermichael Finley intended pass putting Rodgers total at three for the night. The Defense would give Rodgers the ball back with six minutes left. But a miss on a wide open Nelson along with a sack on third down, would force Tim Masthay to punt the back right back to Seattle with three and a half remaining. But Greenbays defense would come up huge, On the first three plays DE CJ Wilson would put Russell Wilson down on the ground back to back. On a third and long Sam Shields would come up huge, picking off a Russell Wilson throw, returning it to Seattle’s half with just under two remaining. On the first play Rodgers would find Nelson for twenty-one yards. But a couple good stops by Seattle would put Green Bay at a third and eight, Rodgers would run for those eight, getting the first down but just a yard shy of the endzone. The next play the Packers would hand the ball off to John Kuhn to tie the game up late in the game with just one minute left.
Seattle would attempt to go for the win but things would backfire as the Packers would force a really quick three and out, getting the ball back at about midfield with thirty-seven seconds remaining and three timeouts. A catch by Driver and an errant facemask by Seattles secondary would put them in easy scoring range. Crosby would be good from thirty-six yards out as he kicks the game winner as time expires. Packers win twenty-four to twenty-one. (3-0)

Quick questions, do you guys think I should continue with the play-by-play like summaries of the game? Which is obviously more time consuming, or would you prefer small paragraph write-ups on the game? This would probably allow me to do more around the league type of write-ups and stuff between games.

                  GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE
Rodgers blast by Saints D, cruise to 4-0

On a cold and rainy afternoon in Lambeau, the skies were looking bleak in Wisconsin. Yet the same could not be said for the Green Bay Packers earlier as Aaron Rodgers carried the team through yet another victory putting them at a perfect four this season. Like Rodgers has done a lot the past few weeks he did tonight. From the beautifully placed passes to the great decisions he made. Rodgers looked to be in his element against the Saints, he always seemed to make the right choice whether it was gashing the Saints early in the fourth quarter that put them up fifteen or seeing nobody open downfield and just taking what was given with his feet. But Green Bay would lose Greg Jennings he suffered early in the fourth quarter after posting up career best numbers. We have not gotten word on how long, but the ccollision he took was brutal, should also be noted that he was carted off of the field.

But all of the praise cannot be put just on Aaron Rodgers, the defense once against played exceptional. Holding Brees and his offense to twenty-one points with a few turnovers is a nice feat. Is it just me or have the Packers defense shown tenacity and agressiveness unlike last year? They are currently among the best when it comes to goalline defense and they are able to consistently keep the offenses at bay. The Saints were able to make a late quarter push but it just wasn't enough as Rodgers would continue to match them late. The game would end in Green Bays favor, 35-21.

Next week the Packers look to go 5-1 on the road against Andrew Luck and his 3-1 Colts who have just come off their week 4 BYE.

Colts stun Packers, torches Packer D, Donald Brown shatters record, Walden shatters collarbone

Oh how the mighty have fallen, flashback to 1973, "down goes frazier, down goes frazier!"as Donald Brown set the new rushing record off of a whopping 314 yard night with two touchdowns, he was not the only star of the night as Andrew Luck had his best game of his rookie season emassing for over 300 yards, 4 touchdowns and zero picks.

The Colts took the lead and never looked back, that was until the fourth quarter, where Rodgers and co. gave it everything they could to stage a comeback, scoring an enormous 29 points. Nearing the record of 34 set by the Lions. The game was pulse pounding to the very end, where the Packers were even able to recover a late onside recovery with 37 seconds left and no timeouts. But a bad sack on second down by Dwight Freeney (who played spectacular, compiling three on the night) sealed the deal and delivered Green Bays first tick on the loss column.

Aaron Rodgers magnificent play is unfortunately masked by the play of the winners, but throwing for five touchdowns, 4 coming in the fourth quarter, is a mind numbing occurrence. Especially when you factor in his completion percentage and the fact he threw no interceptions, he was a man of god last night. The biggest issue was the ugly defense. "Sloppy, the worst I've seen us play on that side of the ball, in a very long time." a disgruntled Mike McCarthy said during the post game interview. "the defense dropped the ball, we couldn't stop the run, we couldn't get pressure on the QB, we couldn't do much tonight to be honest." said Nick Perry. Who had a quiet performance after coming off such a big week last week against the Saints with his 3 sacks.

Erik Walden suffered an injury in the second half, his injury is said to be a Broken Collarbone and will miss 7 weeks
Greg Jennings was out this game, as he will be for the remainder of the season. Jennings will undergo surgery within the week after suffering a Fractured Shoulder Blade in week 4 against the Saints.

The Packers look to bounce back next week against the 3-2 Texans.

                          NFL Mid-Season Review

The NFL has just about hit the halfway mark in the season, with week seven about to take-off, we'd like to bring everyone up to speed on just exactly what has happened this season. The season has been about as wild as ever, from shattered record to shattered bones. There was everything.

There only remains one remaining undefeated team, the Pittsburgh Steelers have played really good football. They don't stand out anywhere in particular but they don't seem to have any big holes on their team. A stingy defense, punishing run game and an offense that is playing mistake free football thanks to Ben Roethlisberger who has played exceptionally well this far - makes this Steeler team the cream of the crop in the NFL. But there are several teams who are clawing at them right now.

                          The Terrific Ten

                          1. Steelers
For many of the reasons before, the Steelers earn the top dog mark, they're the only undefeated team and they got the stats to prove it. They may have played some of the weaker ended teams, but Ben Roethlisberger put a beating on Manning and his Broncos in week 1 along with a 32-7 victory over the Eagles two weeks ago. They are the highest scoring team in the league, mainly due to that #1 ranked defense.
                          2. Giants
A team very much like the Steelers, sitting pretty at 5-1, their only loss came from the Browns (3-3) two weeks ago. Eli has done a great job at commanding his team, and it shows. The Giants are the second ranked team in total offensive yards and 4th in passing. Not a bad feat. They have scored over 30 points a game in every matchup except last week, a season low 20 points in their victory. The 49ers have only put up over 30 once this season.

                          3. Patriots
Brady and co. could probably be higher on this list if it weren't for their losses against the Cardinals and the Broncos. The Patriots are 4-2 in a shootout for first against the Buffalo Bills. Brady, to no surprise in in the contending for another MVP title as he has made the Patriots ranked 1st in passing, 3rd in total offense and boast the best turnover differential of +11. Five more points to the nearest team.

                          4. Broncos
Although the Broncos are the same record as the Patriots and even though they beat the Patriots head to head and even though they lost to higher quality opponents, I still think the Broncos are a hair below the Patriots right now, I would have called a tie between the two but nobody likes ties! The Broncos have #1 ranked offense right now in terms of yards, largely in part from Peyton Manning, who makes them ranked 3rd in Passing. Manning has been great but their average run game hinders them a bit. The big reason is largely due to the fact that Von Miller will be out for the remainder of the season due to injury, which is a huge hit to their defense. The offensive line have also allowed Manning to be put on the ground quite often this season. Allowing over 3 a game.

                          5. Lions
4-1 and just getting off of their bye, the team had taken a 180 degree turn, Stafford has put up solid numbers but they don't have that explosiveness as they did last season. Through 6 games Calvin Johnson only has 3 touchdowns, behind his counter partner, Nate Burleson, who has 4 currently. I'd also like to note that their run game has been passive. With the recent return of Jahvid Best who was out due to injury, Lions fans hope he adds a bit more of a spark. Lions are the 3rd ranked defense in the league and also leads the league with 13 interceptions so far.

                          6. Vikings
Vikings are 4-2 in a tough division, that earns them a spot on this list alone. Couple that with the fact that they have the best rushing attack in the game, and they earn the #6 spot. The Vikings also are the 2nd highest scoring team. Adrian Peterson is looking very well, Well on his way to a 240+ carry season with 1100-1200 yards and 10 touchdowns.

                          7. Colts
Andrew Luck, wow. He has had a stellar rookie season thus far. Turning the ball over just 8 times to his 14 touchdowns along with his 1,573 yards. Andrew Luck may break 4,000 passing yards if he keeps this up. The defense has also been good so far, totaling 27 sacks as a unit which ranks first in the NFL right now. There is no better team than getting to the QB than the Colts, and that is something that changes games in the playoffs. Don't forget that Donald Brown made history this season by breaking the single game rushing record and being the only 300 yard rusher in a game. Although, in his other 4 games, he only got a little over 200 yards combined and didn't score in any of those contests. Dwight Freeney has 8 sacks up to this point.

                          8. Texans
Maybe this team should be a little higher than 8th, the Texans have the 3rd ranked defense in the league right now, and between Watt, Brooks Reed and Antonio Smith, they account for 17 sacks already. Although they have been thin at getting turnovers the Texans are playing strong defense, creating a lot of 3 and outs. Keeping Arian Foster on the field who is second in rush yards and first in rush touchdowns right now.

                          9. Seahawks
Who would have thought the Seahawks would be a top 10 ranked team this season? Thanks to their recent emergence of a QB, who has played good football so far. Yes his name is Russell Wilson. Russell has a 93.9 QBR with 1,500 passing yards along with 14 TDs and 7 interceptions. Lynch has been a serviceable back thus far with nearly 600 yards of rushing yards. Sporting a 5.5 average per carry. The line has created as much pressure as in the past season, but they are making it up in interceptions as they have 12 to the season so far.

                          10. Packers

Call it a homer pick but the Packers are something special, but inconsistency has them slide here. Aaron Rodgers is playing incredible, there is simply no other way to put it. He has 2,331 passing yards to his name and he still has another 10 games to play..Along with 18 touchdowns and just 4 picks..3 of which came in the game against the Seahawks. But since then Aaron Rodgers hasn't thrown an interception. He's gone over 4 games without one, He's thrown the ball up in the air 188 times since then, and he hasn't been picked. Closing in on the record of 294, held by none other than football great, and ex Packer Bart Starr. If he keeps throwing like he has been, Rodgers could break that record in two more weeks. The Packers have the #1 passing offense in the league, but the 31st ranked run game and a line that keeps Rodgers down time after time. Couple that with a defense that over the past few weeks have looked awful. You have a team that could be something truly special if...if being the big question, a lot of what ifs for Packer fans right now but no solid evidence. Until they show some consistency the Packers will remain at the bottom of this Terrific list.

                          The Pleasantly Surprised

                          The Pleasantly surprised list

Albert Haynesworth has been very good this season with the Bears, he is 3rd on the team for tackles and also has 5 sacks on the season. It seems that we may actually see the old Albert Haynesworth again.
Russell Wilson has lead his Seahawks team to a 4-2 record. Has 1,500 yards on the season with 14 Tds and 7 interceptions. Quite the feat. for a rookie QB who was expected to ride the pine behind Matt Flynn.

Andy Dalton has had success similar to Russell Wilson. Dalton has the Bengals at 3-3 in a gridlock battle for the AFC north with a 3 way tie between the Ravens, Browns and themselves. Has 1,237 yards with 14 tds and just two picks. Another rookie QB has his team turned in the right direction for once in a quite some time.

Matt Moore has been the guy in Miami, 1,385 passing yards with a lower than avergae 9 touchdowns but just a single pick to the season. He reminds me of a Chad Pennington all over again in Miami. Doesn't do a ton to win games for his season, but hasn't done anything to really hurt them. A textbook game manager.

                          The Dissappointingly Dissappointed list

Jay Cutler only having 6 touchdowns. Known for his gungslinging like style, Cutler hasn't been very effective through the air with just 1,212 yards. Only has two picks but only 6 Tds nearly midway through the season.

Michael Vick only has 1,075 yards with 7 picks and just 7 touchdowns. Eagles have been plagued by injuried on his team on defense, but it's clear Vick has cooled off since his 2010 season.

49ers Team is 1-5..Not suffering and grueling injuries like the Ravens, Bears and Raidersand are still tanking on a unit full of talent.

                          Packers Run Game sucks

Panthers run game sucks. Williams and Stewart don't have a single carry, Ryan Grant has been starting for the Panthers this season. He hasn't done a damn thing.

Carson Palmer stinking it in Oakland. Sporting a 52.9 QBR with just under 900 yards to his name and only four touchdowns with twice that in picks, this trade seems to have been a bad idea Raider natioon.

                            Sunday Match-up Preview

                            @

Green Bay Packers (4-2) @ St. Louis Rams (3-3)

The Packers will be looking to bounce back to their winning ways after finishing with a loss the past two weeks. The Packers will have a good chance to do that this Sunday against the Rams. Sam Bradford hasn't had a very good season thus far. On the other hand, Steven Jackson has been the bright spot on the offense. He has managed to stay healthy so far this season, we all know Steven Jackson is talented, but his injuries have always interfered. Look for the Rams try and expose the Packers weak run D. Which should not be a tough task as they are well aware of the punishing the Packers defense has taken against Arian Foster and Donald Brown in the past two weeks.

The Green Bay Packers acquired 2nd year man Jerrell Powe(72) from the Chiefs via trade last night. Jerrell was traded along with a seventh round pick for the Packers fourth rounder and 6th round. This is a great move as it will give them much needed depth in that 3-4 line. Better yet, the Pack dove into free agency this morning, signing veteran DT Spencer Johnson (79) and MLB Jonathan Goff(75) off waivers for a one year deal each. The Packers lost star MLB Desmond Bishop for the season along with Erik Walden who will remain on the injured list for another 6-7 weeks due to injury. This should provide some much needed depth to try and stop the run game.

                            Keys to the game
In order for Greenbay to win:
-Develop a run game: The Rams have the third worst defense in both passing and run stopping. Aaron Rodgers will be able to put points on the board, but Green Bay needs to keep them honest. Cedric Benson needs a good game.
-Aaron Rodgers needs to be Aaron Rodgers, simple as that. Expect a shootout, if Aaron doesn't show up - Rams win.

In order for the Rams to win:
-Pound the rock, Greenbay has been poor stopping the run lately. Steven Jackson will need to carry the team to a victory.
-Sam Bradford needs to manage the game, he needs to sustain drives and keep the Pack offense off of the field as much as possible. If not, Aaron Rodgers will beat you. Mistake free football.
