Raiders vs Oilers will obviously be the AFC Championship game and the Oilers look like the best team in the league.

So let me give you guys a long overdue update on this. Basically my pc died (gfx card fried), I moved out, now working full time, band stuff, last week my laptop also died. I barely make enough $ to sustain my bills, so I'm probably just gonna buy another radeon9800 pro off eBay to get my pc working again and then a get back on this.

Have no fear, this will return, if anybody is still here in 2012 haha

Update: I now have a working PC my dad ended up buying one so the last time I went to visit my family I snagged his old PC which was better than my current it's an old Dell 2.8ghz with a Radeon HD2450. Eitherway, it'll get the job done.

I transferred files over and and gonna start installing everything I need...soon...soon.

Clash Of Super Bowl Hunting Titans

AP - Later this week the 1992 NFL playoffs will go underway as the Buffalo Bills will face off against the Miami Dolphins in the first wild card game of the year, followed soon after by the Cincinnati Bengals against the Denver Broncos. These two contests will square off four of the league's best quarterbacks in their eternal quest to get a Super Bowl ring, and it won't be an easy task.

What does everybody play the game for? The answer is simple: rings. Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, John Elway, and Boomer Esiason will be finding out in a short amount of time whether or not that quest will be attainable as they duke it out to see who will get the opportunity to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. These four quarterbacks represent the elite quarterbacks playing in the NFL and all together they have combined for 0 Super Bowl rings. Some have come close and failed like John Elway who lost two Super Bowl games. Sharing his pain is Dan Marino who took a dive against the San Francisco 49ers in 1985. Nonetheless it is the similar quest that bonds these players together.

The Miami Dolphins are reinvigorated this season with the addition of a solid ground game after acquiring Eric Dickerson in free agency. Dickerson's playing has really helped alleviate the pressure on Dan Marino and given him as good a chance as any to get to the big game. This was extremely helpful this season as the Dolphins passing game was a let down in terms of production by Marino. Marino only threw for 2,520 yards and 16 touchdowns with 14 interceptions, hardly stellar numbers. In fact the pedestrian season so far by Marino has many Miami fans murmuring about a change of guard in the offensive play calling situation. Meanwhile the Marx brothers at wide out are not getting any younger and the window may be closing for the Dolphins as youngster Tony Martin only has so much room to grow before Duper and Clayton are on their way out of the game of football altogether.

The Buffalo Bills have the advantage of their trio of great players in Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Andre Reed. All three have gelled together to create a perfect balanced offensive attack that is a nightmare for opposing defenses. Jim Kelly continues to play great during the regular season with an astonishing 3,798 yards passing with 26 touchdowns. However Thurman Thomas struggled this season with nagging injuries that kept him out for numerous games. Thomas did manage to grab 788 yards and 6 touchdowns despite these injuries and was spelled by Harvey Williams. But still; some consistency issues in big games from Thurman Thomas seems to be the bane of Buffalo. Whether or not Thomas is capable of getting it done remains to be seen, while obviously the entire blame can not be thrown onto him it was a large part of their downfall the past few years in the playoffs.

The Cincinnati Bengals tried their best this off season to give Boomer Esiason what he needs to compete, and that's a yang running game to his yin passing ability. The Bengals found that in Herschel Walker who gives the Bengals their biggest running threat in perhaps franchise history. With Walker blazing opponents for 1,705 yards this season it has opened up the defense for Esiason. As a result Esiason has had one of his best years with 3,319 yards, 28 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions all season long. Defensive additions like linebacker Jack Del Rio have also helped plug up holes on the Bengals front and given them the extra push they need to get into the playoffs. Now it's up to them to continue their level of play in the big games and get a ring on their fingers.

Finally the Denver Broncos are on the outside looking in. They have already had two recent shots at winning the big game but have been incapable, meanwhile the team continues to get older. Elway stayed the course with a 2,871 yard 21 touchdown year with only 11 picks. Meanwhile the ground game continued to suffer after the loss of Bobby Humphrey to the Colts. Eric Pegram is the teams leading and starting running back with 761 yards and 8 touchdowns, Leroy Thompson sneaking in with 322 and 4 as well. The ground game issues have allowed defenses to key in on the passing attack and make it more difficult for the Broncos offense to put up huge numbers. Not to mention a surprisingly off-year for kicker Davie Treadwell who only mad 18 of 29 of his field goals, for a lackluster 62% cost the Broncos numerous games. However if anybody can turn it on in the playoffs with their knowledge and experience it's John Elway and his Bronco teammates. Nothing gives you a greater advantage than your opponent than being able to say you've already been to the big dance and experienced it.

The AFC Wild card picture is certainly interesting and all kinds of stories and drama is waiting to explode out of just the first few games in the playoffs. Will the Bills threesome finally get a ring? Will John Elway ever be able to claim he was capable of winning a Super Bowl? Can Dan Marino carry the weight of the Dolphins on his shoulders and get it done? Will Boomer Esiason be able to catapult his name into the upper echelon of quarterbacks that he's been on the cusp of for years with ounces of gold and diamond around his finger? We'll find out this week as the titans clash heads in the wild card round.

Game Summary: It started off as a one sided battle. The Bills scored on their opening drive and then on the final drive of the 1st quarter with a 2 yard run by Thurman Thomas.

Punts were traded back and forth by Reggie Roby and Joe Prokop until the 2nd quarter saw the Dolphins get on the board on a 23 yard field goal kick by Pete Stoyanovich after the Bills defense stuffed Dickerson at the goal line. Jim Kelly decided to be the first quarterback to prove his mettle with a 41 yard touchdown pass to Raghib Ismail. Going into the half the Bills were comfortably ahead 17 to 3.

In the second half Dan Marino started to hit his stride and drove the Dolphins into field goal range for Stoyanovich on the opening 2nd half drive and made it 17 to 6. Marino would once again play well on the following Dolphin drive as he hit Clayton in the end zone on a 20 yard touchdown pass to make it a competitive 17 to 13 game. However Jim Kelly wouldn't let it get too close as he answered right back with a 16 yard pass to Jeff Graham that pulled the Bills further ahead 24 to 13.

On the first play of the 4th quarter Miami faithful held their breathe in unison as Dan Marino went down on a play. In came Scott Mitchell, and with him the ball as well as it was turned over to Vencie Glenn in the Bills secondary. However the Bills would cough up a turnover of their own on the ensuing drive as Thurman Thomas dropped the ball and Hugh Green picked it back up for Miami. Marino would then hit slot receiver Jeff Query in the end zone for a short 2 yarder, but would fail on the 2 point conversion to make it 24-19, as Miami started to close the game. Yet once more Buffalo would immediately answer to a Miami score as Thurman Thomas ran an 11 yard run into the end zone and made it 31 to 19 with only 1:30 left in the game. That 1:30 however was action packed as Dan Marino hit Tony Martin on a 65 yard bomb just 28 seconds later to make it 31-26 Buffalo and keep Miami in the game. Another 2 point conversion fail hurt Miami though, but they still managed to retrieve the onside kick. On 4th down and inches with less than a minute to play Eric Dickerson bowled over Bills defenders on a 52 yard touchdown run that gave Miami the lead for the first time in the game 32 to 31 after anther failed 2 point conversion. With only 40 seconds left in the game the Bills needed a score. Jim Kelly would soon answer with a miracle play as he hit Andre Reed on a 76 yard touchdown pass. The score would put Buffalo back ahead 37 to 32 with only 20 seconds left in the game, and ultimately the victory. One of the more exciting quarters in playoff history took place in this games 4th as Marino & Dickerson, and Kelly & Thomas refused to make it easy.

Game Summary: It was one of those days where nothing right was going wrong for either team, or their superstar players, but younger guys stepped up and made things happen.

The game started with a score on the first drive as the 49ers traveled downfield and Mike Cofer knocked in a short 21 yard field goal to go up 3-0. The Cowboys came out and decided to test out Emmitt Smith's durability with his recent partially torn MCL injury. The results were not what they had hoped for as he struggled and punts were forced back and forth. Late in the quarter the 49ers punted to the Cowboys and Derrick Shepard was nailed by Sabb who forced the fumble. 49ers linebacker Dwight Hollier scooped up the forced fumble and returned it 28 yards to pay dirt to give the 49ers an early 10-0 lead, and break the Cowboys morale.

As if it couldn't get any worse, the Cowboys had a big scare as Troy Aikman took a hard hit that knocked him out momentarily. The Cowboys quarterback stepped off the field and with him out and Smith trying to run injured the Cowboys would struggle offensively throughout the entire 2nd quarter. Luckily for them the 49ers did as well but it may have been the last chance the Cowboys had to pull the game closer and couldn't capitalize. Aikman would soon come back in and with 6 seconds left Cary Blanchard would try and kick the ball through the uprights and put Dallas on the scoreboard for the first time of the day, but he missed the 44 yarder. The quarter was filled with nothing but back and forth punts and a strong defensive battle as both teams were putting the opposing team's quarterbacks into the ground.

The third quarter started off on yet another sour note for the Cowboys as Troy Aikman threw an interception to Don Griffin. The 49ers capitalized on the turnover and capped it off with a 4 yard touchdown run by Brent Fullwood. The 49ers pulled way ahead 17 to 0 with 7:34 left in the 3rd. Another punt by Dallas led to the final drive fo the 3rd where Brent Fullwood once again stuffed himself into the endzone from only 1 yard out. 24-0 San Francisco.

The final quarter started off on the exact same sour note that the 3rd did for the Cowboys, who were trying to get back into the game with a comeback. The normally efficient Troy Aikman lobbed an interception to Dwight Hollier which gave the 49ers the ball back. The 49ers turned the turnover into points on a 54 yard Mike Cofer field goal and extended their lead 27 to zip. The Cowboys fought hard on the following drive, at the 49ers 22 yard line with 5:32 left and down 27 points on 4th down they had to go for it. But Smith was unable to push through the 49ers defense and they ended up turning the ball over on downs, which pretty much sealed the game's fate. Continuing the horrible day where nothing went right for the Cowboys, Derrick Shepard fumbled once AGAIN on a punt return, which was picked up by Steve Grant. The 49ers added insult to injury as Mike Cofer booted in a 27 yard field goal and made it 30 to nothing, 49ers.

                  Game Pictures
                  --------------------------------------------

Left: Mike Cofer gets the first points of the game on the opening drive, hitting this 21 yarder.
Right: Dwayne Sabb nails Derrick Shepard and pops the ball out. Dwight Hollier would recover it and return it for a touchdown to give the 49ers the 10-0 lead, and the momentum.

Left: Troy Aikman was laid out on the field with a hard hit that knocked him out for 2 Cowboy drives. In both drives they went 3 and out.
Right: Don Griffin made an amazingly athletic interception as he managed to swat this ball in mid-air to himself.

Left: Brent Fullwood was the epitome of tuck and run today as he plowed through the Cowboys line for this 4 yard touchdown. The score gave the 49ers a commanding 17 to 0 lead.
Right: This was the view all day for Cowboys star Emmitt Smith. He had 16 carries for only 11 yards on his gimp leg.

Left: Brent Fullwood mugs for the crowd as a dejected Cowboys defense watches in awe. His 2nd touchdown run would solidify the 49ers lead 24 to zero.
Right: Dwight Hollier continued to make big plays in a big game as he managed to intercept this Troy Aikman pass near the start of the 4th quarter.

Left: Mike Cofer hit a career high 54 yard field goal in the 4th to make it 27-0 49ers with 8:54 left in the game.
Right: Putting a nail in the coffin, Derrick Shepard fumbled a 2nd time as Steve Grant managed to scoop it up, holding off any miracle comeback attempts by the Cowboys with 3:42 left in the 4th.

Grrr so i went to try and update this today by going through the Broncos vs. Bengals game, and discovered I have lost the 1st CD for my Madden 2005 PC game. I have no idea where the hell it is :\ might try and find a torrent somewhere.

Damn it's been a while since I've gone through this. IIRC, the Raiders are about to repeat?

Wow I remember this franchise at a forum I used to lurk at years ago. Used to love reading franchise posts, but no on seems to do it anymore. There was a guy who used to do an awesome lions franchise every year when madden came out too.

Good memories. Great to read it again.
