Our end of July offensive numbers for the month.

As you can see Bubba Trammell and Fred McGriff had excellent numbers for the month.

We lost Mike Kelly for the season with a ruptured achilles tendon. He is likely done for good as a member of this club.

Fred McGriff hits 2 home runs against the Oakland Athletics, going 2-6 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Tuesday, July 14th, 1998
Fred McGriff goes 4-5 against the Boston Red Sox, with 2 RBI and 1 runs scored.

Friday, July 10th, 1998
Bubba Trammell goes 4-5 against the New York Yankees, with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Despite a 4-12 record, Wilson Alvarez had a solid month of July for us.

On the other hand, Jason Johnson struggled quite a bit throughout the month.

July 1998 Trades

Couple of trades involving bigger names. You can see Strawberry, Henderson and Percival on the move.

Moving through August and Wade Boggs suffers a season-ending injury. Boggs was diagnosed with "Post-Concussion Syndrome," effectively ending his career.

Bogg had a vesting option for the 1999 season which required 135 games played. Boggs' season ends with 131 games played. No shenanigans.

August is now over and rosters expand to 40 players. Here is what is going on around the league at the end of August.

Not a ton of close races. Right now Cleveland and Chicago in the AL and San Francisco and San Diego are the only close division races right now.

Nomar and Jeter are both having MVP type seasons right now. Pedro is dealing as well. However, he may not win the Cy Young due to lack of W's. Randy Johnson may be the front-runner there.
