More injuries. Yunel Escobar goes on the DL for a 2nd time. Sam Fuld is on the shelf along with Matt Joyce.
Injuries create opportunities though and Mikie Mahtook and Hak-Ju Lee have been given a shot at starting. Mahtook has a slash line of .227/.310/.347 in just 19 games. Lee has been a bit better offensively in his 12 games with the big-club. So far he has put together a nice .294/.345/.333 line to go with his excellent defensive abilities.
We dropped from 2nd in the East to 4th and sit at 8.5 games back. If we don't gain significant ground over the next few weeks, it will be time to start looking at trade partners for David Price and possibly Ben Zobrist.
