                    Magglio Helps Tigers Kick Off Interleague Play On A High Note

                    (24-17) vs (21-19)


                    Magglio Ordonez led the Tigers offense, hitting his 8th and 9th home run of the season in the win.

                    The Tigers squeaked out a 4-3 win over the Rockies tonight, in front of a crowd of 22,333 at Comerica Park. Magglio Ordonez demolished the Rockies, mashing 2 home runs and driving in 3 while getting 3 hits in 4 at bats. The winning pitcher was Edwin Jackson, who claimed his 3rd win of the season by allowing 3 runs on 7 hits over 8 innings of work.

                    The series resumes tomorrow night at Comerica Park, with the Tigers Jeremy Bonderman (2-1 , 1.54 ERA) and the Rockies Aaron Cook (1-4 , 3.88 ERA) set as the probable starting pitchers.

                            Tigers rookie Clete Thomas robs the Rockies of a home run, keeping them from reaching double digits in runs scored.

                            The Tigers were unable to prove American League dominance today, losing an interleague battle with the Rockies by a final score of 9-4. Miguel Cabrera provided the offense, collecting 3 hits, including his 14th home run, and 2 RBI. Jeremy Bonderman took the loss in a mediocre outing, pitching 5 innings while allowing 4 runs on 6 hits to drop his record to 2-2.
