Jackson Wins 5th Straight; Tigers Avoid Sweep

            (39-27) @ (38-30)

Edwin Jackson gave up only 1 run in 6 innings of work to help the Tigers snap the Cardinals 3 game win streak.

The Tigers, playing on the road in an interleague game took down the tough righty Chris Carpenter and came away with 4-1 win tonight over the Cardinals. Brandon Inge went 3 for4 and drove in a run to spur the club to victory. Edwin Jackson once again bended but did not break, working 6 innings and only giving up 1 run despite giving up 10 hits. The Tigers bullpen was able to preserve his 6th win of the season (5th in a row).

Zach Miner (4-3 , 3.13 ERA) toes the rubber for the Tigers against the Brewers and Dave Bush (4-5 , 3.74 ERA) tomorrow night in the first game of a 6-game homestand for the Tigers.

The downside with Duncan is that he's a 1B/DH type that plays OF just so he can get on the field. But, he would fit the "pinch hitter" and "platoon player" mold, and wouldn;t take a big name in trade to acquire. If you're not using Larish, the Cards need a 3Bman.
Noted. Makes sense with the Cards needed a 3B and me not using Larish all that much. His right contact rating is nice. However, really low left contact rating. haha.

Athletics are a half game behind the Angels for #1 in AL West. Giambi seems like he's way too important to them. Ryan Church makes sense. However, not sure what I can give them for it to make sense. He seems like he'd be pretty costly.

Tracy looks solid. Erstad didn't impress me much. Can't seem to find Gwynn on the Padres roster.

Hm. Checked him out. Power ratings seem kinda low.

Hoffpauir's on the 60 day DL.

Patterson has spent the whole season in Triple-A. I guess because of Milledge. Damn. Guy is pretty fast.

Luke Scott would be a great option for you, IMO. In real life, he's having far and away a career year, so it would work in the sense that the O's would be selling while his value is sky-high.

Rodney Blows It In The Top Of 9th; Wins It In The Bottom Of 9th

                          (40-27) vs (33-33)

Gerald Laird sliced one down the line between Prince Fielder and the bag at 1st to bring in the game winning run.

The Tigers escaped with a 5-4 win tonight with 37, 875 fans on hand to witness the interleague contest. Magglio Ordonez went 3 for 4 with a triple and drove in 1 run to spur the club to victory. Zach Miner was the starter, allowing 3 runs and 8 hits in 6 and two thirds innings, but he didn't factor into the decision (though he did collect his 2nd quality start of the season). Usual closer Fernando Rodney picked up a rare win, his 2nd of the season, after surrendering the lead after a Prince Fielder solo shot in the top of the 9th.

Tomorrow night is game 2 of the series, as the Tigers send Jeremy Bonderman (5-3 , 2.25 ERA) to the hill against Braden Looper (2-6 , 4.06 ERA) and the Brewers.

Rodney has been pretty solid all season. Both saves he has blown, he's managed to get wins back. lol.

Thanks. I tried to get an even better screen but it was difficult. The ball literally sliced back towards the foul line. I don't know how it stayed fair. It landed right on the foul line. When the ump called it fair, Guillen hustled home. It was dope. I thought for sure the game was going into extras.

Oh yeah, I'm super lucky we played in Comerica. Two of their long shots died at the warning track in straight center. They were 410 feet hits that were routine fly balls because of Comerica's 420' straight center.
