Breaking Bad is a great show. No doubt about it. But The Wire is better. Fact.

The Wire moves too slowly for me and I get the feeling it has a lot of characters that it tries to develop. Thats a big pet peeve of mine for any show. I prefer a small group of well developed characters, versus a bunch.

Thats partly why I like Breaking Bad so much and think its the greatest show I've ever seen. Its the evolution of Walter White and thats it.

Breaking Bad is great, I love the show, but it's too unrealistic and silly to be called the greatest show ever, in my opinion.

I rather have very real and complex storylines and character development than over the top action with silly characters that aren't realistic whatsoever.

I just finished season 5 a couple nights ago. Second time watching it all the way through.

Still my favorite show of all time. Realest thing I've ever seen on Television. I actually think I caught a few more things this time that I didn't catch before, too.

I'm sad it's over. I want to watch it all over again but can't bring myself to yet. It is a powerful series to go through and does take time.

GF and I are just about done with season 4. My 3rd time through, her first. It is at a point now where I can't understand how people would argue any other show is better. The amount of shit I catch at this point that I missed is astounding, the acting equally so and then, shit, the way they build a story? Unparalleled.

TV shows are obviously a common topic at the gym I work at. People are always looking for a new show to watch or talk about.

I always tell them The Wire is the best show I've ever seen, but if you're looking for something wildly entertaining then you might not like it right now. There are certainly other shows out there that are more suspenseful, thrilling, and action-packed. I recommend Dexter or Breaking Bad.

But if you want something very real, that is going to change the way you think and that you can actually take something from, then nothing comes close to The Wire.
