halfway through season 5. kind of sad that its about to be over. this may very well be the best show ever.

why did they end the show after 5 seasons?

thats all of them. obviously a great show. season 1 makes it tough for new viewers to get into it. It took me about 6 or 7 shows to really feel like i was interested. After that i was hooked. I thought 2, 3 and 4 were the best followed by season 1 then season 5.

i didnt find the fake serial to be realistic. it was insane even for an off the cuff guy like mcnaulty. I did not like how things ended for omar. Not that it was bad, i just didnt like it. the whole season was sub par imo. the newsroom stuff didnt do anything for me. I thought it would have been a great storyline, but i just didnt care for it

the show really makes you feel something for the characters. some of my favs were Chris, brother mazone, michael, cutty, omar, bunk, griggs, jimmy, lester, danials, carcetti, vondas, Frank Sobotka, bunny

some i didnt like...clay davis, herk, stringer bell, dangelo barksdale, namond,

I wish they had more of a backstory to marlo. It felt like he just came out of nowhere and was the heir apparent. I also thought at some point, maybe with the season 5 stuff they would do something with rawls being a homo

i read the show is 75-80% realistic. i felt like the realistic nature of the shows themes sets it apart from anything else i have seen. its sad that people live like that and have to deal with those hardships. i know we have bad areas around cleveland, but nothing compared to what they show as going on in baltimore. if it is going on, they sure do a good job of hiding it.

the show is by far one of the greatest i have watched, if not the best. i know im gonna start watching it again right away. I no longer have to wonder what i was missing with this show. thanks for keeping the interest going to allow me to give this show a look

Had the same effect on me. Season 1 was such a bear first time through, then I finished it, went back, and LOVED season 1 because I knew the characters at that point.

You know a show is great when you see a character in a movie that was made 20 years prior or 5 years after and say "hey he was in the Wire."

When I see Dominic West in something, I don't say "hey he was in 300!" I say, "oh snap McNulty whats up homey!"

I saw Maurice Levy on an old re-run of Veronica Mars my gf was watching. I love when I see them in other shows/movies and I still call them by their character name. I just assume they teleported there from the Wire universe.
