          Maybe GOAT was an overstatement due to the fact that I am reading the series for the first time right meow, I've read the stand about a million times and have to agree that it is a awesome book but the first 300 or so pages just drag on and on for me....

            First 300 are my fav, then again I'm more of a Sci-Fi guy than a Fantasy guy.

              I just got tired of hearing all the backstory, have you read the new revisied edition? They added tons of conversations and backstory to the beggining of the book that helps paint the picture a little better...
