huge fan, i own the original mini series, the final battle and the TV series on DVD. I can't wait for the new show, I hope they do a good job, after years of rumors that they were going reunite the original cast I am glad they at least decided to do something, hopefull some of the actors from the original will make a cameo or something.
So did anybody watch the premiere? I thoguht it had a few cool unexpected turns.
I thought it moved way, way, way too fast. The whole pilot seemed so rushed. Too much jammed into 45 minutes of air time, it left no time for awe, mystery or character development. This really would have worked better as a 2 hour pilot. But I think the show is well-made and has potential, I'll keep watching it to see where they go with the story.
But I liked the pacing of the original miniseries and how it took it's time showing people gaining trust of the aliens, while also dropping subtle hints that they aren't what they appear to be, such as their distaste for cooked food, their cold skin, and how animals freaked out in their presence. Then came the big reveal where we see them eat the rats! That was the shit back in '83, I remember that freaking me out as a little kid and my grandfather couldnt even watch the rest of the series after that. lol
there is no doubt i think it went way to fast, i did like the little wrinkle with
the visitors having already been on earth
but there is no question it went way too fast, they advanced the story further in one episode then almost the entire 2 hour first part of the original mini series. i guess we will see where they go from here
Bad news is they put production on hold after only four episodes. So after Nov. don't expect anymore new episodes till at least mid to late Jan. That's if it does well with ratings and finds an audience. After Flash Forward did decent ratings wise they kind of forgot about V, word is they don't want two Sci-Fi series. Anyway I liked V a lot, much more then Flash Forward so I'm upset... Flash Forward is like watching paint dry sometimes... We need a LOST spin off or bring back Jericho, what are we going to do after LOST stops.
Didn't V bust shit up in the ratings? Even better then Flashforward did? (Which is going downhill every week ratings and quality wise - which is a shame, the concept/mystery on that has mammoth potential).
Although I don't think either of them can be dragged out much beyond a season or two without getting desperate for stories and just making shit up as you went along like Prison Break did after the first two seasons.
Flashforward kind of sucks. Joseph Fiennes acting is terrible because he is trying too hard and iis focusing too much on his American accent.
V is legit. I enjoyed the shit out of the pilot.
Funny you say that, because I thought the acting in V was laughable at best.
Still, I'll watch it. I agree with most that the first episode went WAY too fast. They pretty much revealed everything they could. There's no mystery about whether or not they're our friends anymore, which sucks.
