Awesome finale. Glad I can finally enter this thread. Too bad E! News and dumb asses on facebook already spoiled it for me about an hour before I watched it, but it didn't disappoint.

Can't wait for the next season, so many questions yet to be answered.

Hate on me if you want, but I was glad to see Rita go. She kept Dexter from truly embracing his monster. He was always conflicted between good and bad, Rita and the kids were that balance. Now that he doesn't have Rita to hold him back, and can let loose with his serial killer rage.

I wonder if Rita will still play a role in the series, ala Harry. Harry and Rita are the closest thing to Dexter and he already has conversations with Harry, so I could see them keeping Rita on as that "ghost" behind Dexter. It will be wild to see where they take the series from here because there are so many directions avaliable for them now.

Some other thoughts that I had, with Aster and Cody. I don't think Dexter ever legally adopted them. So in that, they'll automatically belong to Rita's mother/father. At least that's how I've known it to work out IRL. So really all Dex would take care of is Harrison.

After the show I really got into the "sit down" with Michael Hall and John Lithgow that was pretty cool to have them throw ideas back and forth at one another and talk about the ending. I'm glad I didn't read any spoilers pertaining to that, because I didn't see it coming in all honesty.

My GF and I finally got caught up this week by watching 6 episodes in a row.

Going to catch the finale later this week (soon as someone uploads it on vuze).

Been an awesome season so far. John Lithgow is great. Really excited for the finale, it's weird, I feel kind of nervous or something.

And looking at the spoiler that was posted after last week's episode:

There's no possible way that could've been the ending because Arthur didn't know Dex is a killer until he's getting chopped up. Arthur just thought he was an extortionist.

                Wow. What an ending.

                I'm halfway through Season 1.

I don't know if its supposed to be the final season. I know last year they only signed on for season 4 and 5 of the show. That could change though

I know last season didn't exactly has a preview but more of a few clips pondering how Dex was going to deal with being a husband/father.

Rita getting killed off sucks. She was annoying msot of the time but you needed her to be there to counter Dexter. Maybe some fo you want Dexter to be "let loose" but I dont, I loved how he was too complete different people but tried to make it work. With Rita gone something wont feel right. If they send the kids to the grandparents that'll be complete cop out.

                        Epic finale.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next season happens to be the last. I can't imagine where this show goes from here or how long the writers can sustain the originality in the plot. This season was definitely one of the better ones if not the best, and I think people might be disappointed next season given how high their expectations will probably be.

As for Harrison, I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually becomes Dexter's apprentice similar to Cody and Astor in the books (from what I understand).

Easily the best season, but I get a different feeling from this ending. More of a "well...fuck...." type feeling. Not disturbed, not excited...just...fuck. I didn't want to see Rita killed off especially with Dexter realizing he can do both and having that "connection" with Rita on the boat via light or something. Totally mindfucked that Rita is gone, spending 8 months how they'll keep the plot together, etc. is going to suck. I think I am going to read all of the novels by Jeff Lindsay. They are different from the TV Show so it's not like I can gain any insight on what MIGHT happen

So many times Dexter's life could be different had he just let Trinity die. Like at the build scene when he jumped, on thanksgiving in the kitchen with the knife, when he drugged him and had him in the van and the dickhead whose car got hit made a scene.

Fuck. Why did she have to leave something I never get this much into a show and it almost feels like somebody I know has died LOL

Craziest part of the finale that I didn't get until reading some comments today:

Trinity's final cycle was completed. You had the buried boy that they found at the build site, you had his daughter committing suicide, and a mother dying in a bathtub. Finally, Dexter bludgeons him to death with a hammer. When Trinity says "It's all complete now" before Dexter kills him, he's talking about his cycle. Like Lundy predicted, he came back to Miami to bring it all full circle. It's a lot like John Doe in "Se7en". What if Trinity knew, at least on some level, who Dexter was, and what he would do?
