Mos Def was the guy who was in Are We There Yet?.I'm surprised you haven't heard of him, to be honest.

But so far, so good. Gonna be weird to see Colin Hanks as a bad guy though..

One of his other notable roles was in the Italian Job remake but he has been in a lot of shit. And of course he's a pretty damn good hip hop/rap artist.

It seems that the Dexter producers have no interest in keeping around any guest actors from the subpar Fifth Season.

Actress Aimee Garcia, of the now defunct Off The Map, has signed on to the Season 6 to play Harrison’s baby sitter, taking over the job from old Nanny Sonya (Maria Doyle Kennedy). And just how does she score this job that has terrible hours? Here’s a clue: she’s Detective Angel Batista’s younger sister. One can only guess that she’ll see a side of Dexter that his police friends certainly won’t. How long before she mentions how late he stays out or even finds blood on this clothing?

Garcia rounds out this week’s Dexter casting news, which started with the addition of Colin Hanks as the sixth season’s big villain. A day later, rapper Mos Def was announced as another antagonist that Dexter will tangle with.

Season 6 is expected to premiere in late September.

I couldn't pick 'Mos Def' out of a lineup.

Anyway, this show has gotten formulaic. I still enjoy it, but its not "first night DVR" viewing by any means. Its the kind of show I get to later in the week, and sometimes I forget about it and a couple episodes will pile up.

But as long as pan faced twat Julia Stiles is off my screen, things should get better.

1, 2, and 4 were just amazing seasons of television.

                  3 was just mediocre.

                  5 was awful.

Lets hope they come back strong.

Season 1- everyone was in love with the show. Also, a very strong villain in Brian Moser

Season 2- Not a villain per se, as everyone was chasing Dexter, but it was a strong cast with Doakes and Lila, especially near the end.

Season 4- John Lithgow. Enough said.

Season 3- Jimmy Smits was solid, but there wasn't much more added besides his aspect.

Season 5- with none of the guests returning, even the nanny, I think you can guess where I am going. The roles were not written well at all.

In my opinion, it all has to do with the quality of actors and how they are written. In addition, Season 5 was awful because they tried to borrow from video games, where there is "something around every corner." They tried too hard to have Debra catch Dexter and fail, including the finale episode.

I wonder what it would take to get John Malkovich on Dexter. Think of how that could work out.......

Battlestar Galactica‘s Edward James Olmos will be making Miami his new port of call. The veteran actor has signed on for a major arc in Dexter‘s sixth season.

Sources say that Olmos will be playing an enlightened religious studies professor. It’s unknown how the character will fit into the plot, but one would assume that Olmos’ character will somehow play a part in Mos Def’s storyline of an ex-con who’s had a spiritual conversion.

Olmos will be most recognizable to television fans as Admiral William Adama in Syfy’s celebrated Battlestar Galactica reboot. The actor has a long history in Hollywood, appearing in Blade Runner, Stand And Deliver and all five seasons of Miami Vice. He played a brief but memorable role as a newspaper editor in The Green Hornet earlier this year.

Olmos joins other notable actors such as Colin Hanks (as well as aforementioned Mos Def) in Dexter‘s latest season. It would appear than none of the three new roles revealed in the casting calls have been announced, meaning there are still plenty of actors and actresses yet to be discovered.

While Olmos isn’t quite an A-lister, he’s easily the highest-profile actor yet announced for the new season. His professor character will be part of a major arc – with shooting scheduled to begin very soon (if it hasn’t started already) we can expect casting and plot details to begin emerging even faster.

Showtime President David Nevins has hinted that Season 6 would bring Dexter back to his roots and be more like earlier seasons. While he failed to reveal any plot details (the guy’s a professional, more’s the pity) we can assume that the cat-and-mouse game between Dexter and Miami Homicide will be a returning theme, and that Dexter will continue to struggle with his humanity — or lack thereof.

With last season’s high-profile guest Julia Stiles and her character Lumen unlikely to return for any significant arc, there would seem to be a gap open for a character that drives the emotions of Dexter and the audience forward. Although, it’s possible that Sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) will continue to press into the niche of Dexter’s psyche – but will she press too hard?

Olmos is one of my favorite actors who can do a great job with a variety of roles. It will be interesting to see his character on Dexter. Another interesting thing will be if Olmos' character is someone who might find out something about Dexter.

Colin Hanks as the season's villain? This must be some kind of joke, he is fucking AWFUL!

Also, watch Something the Lord Made and you'll see that Mos Def can act. Definitely his best performance to date.

Random side note: I just got a new baby English bulldog this weekend.

                            I named him Dexter.

Ask, and you shall receive. (The other dog's name is Nala, she's a 120 lb. Rhodesian Ridgeback female. Dexter is a male.)
