Just watched it and jizzed everywhere GREAT OPENING EPISODE TO THE SEASON. Not gonna lie the Religious jabbering of the new bad guy makes me pissed but Dexter makes it funny with his own anti religious banter.
So, LaGuerta and Batista got a divorce? What was the point of their shit subplot last season? Please kill these annoying fucks off. They're both terrible characters.
The sub plot of their whole romantic relationship, while it makes sense was pretty much unnecessary and didn't really bring too much to the show except that it shows LaGuerta is a huge cunt.
Also while I REALLY want to watch the show I'm gonna hold off and wait til it's on sho.
Season I: 10-6 (NFC North Champions)
Season II: 9-7 (NFC North Champions)
Season III: 13-3 (NFC Champions)
Season IV: 11-5 (NFC North Champions)
Season V: 2-1
I thought the open was one of the best I have ever seen. I thought for sure that scene was what the whole season was going to be leading up to and then.. BAM!
I wonder if Dexter is going to be able to spree more now that he has a FT person to watch his baby? It seemed that way as there is less development around the targets and the hunt involved it seemed, at least one episode in.
I think the Olmos/Hanks story line has a ton of potential. They are clearly into some fucked up shit which is religiously based as far as I can tell. They are undoubtedly an upgrade in terms of acting talent to Styles, who I didn't think ruined last season the way that a lot of people did.
I think the LaGuerta/Batista love angle is just something they have to deal with now because they're already so invested in it and now with both of them coming off the streets, the chances of them getting knocked off are pretty slim. Hopefully it means a little less on camera time though..
My sleeper pick to meet an untimely demise this season........ Batista's sister. And hopefully by the weird Olmos/Hanks alliance setting up something epic for the finale.
I am not certain of it, but I kinda got the vibe that Olmos was a ghost to Hank in the same way Harry is a ghost to Dexter.

Pretty good episode, gotta love Dexter's religion talk with the football star and seeing him dance was hysterical. I'm curios to find out why that guy came into the restaurant and started shooting.
- Overall a fun episode, thought it didn't really go anywhere it was an entertaining hour of TV. Dex at his HS reunion and fitting in with the cool kids was hilarious. It was kind of like the Emo-Spidey sequence in Spiderman 3, but less gay.
- The LaGuerta/Batista storylines continue to suck, only now they suck at separate parts because the characters have broken up. Great. More meaningless subplots. The scene with Angel eating dinner with his sister (who is now Dexter's babysitter, sorry Irish lass from s4 you are no longer needed) was kind of boring and awkward.
- Hanks/Olmos might turn out to be a bad ass villain pair, but is a bit too self serious for the current state of this show. This is a formulaic procedural at this point. I fear the religious and apocalyptic overtones might become unintentionally comedic at some point, at least for a cynical bastard like me. And unrelated, but as a BSG fan it's gonna take all my strength to not yell out a "SO SAY WE ALL" whenever EJO is done with a monologue.
- The shootout at the end was straight out of WTF field. I am guessing since they showed a bystander with his phone out that the footage is going to get Deb in trouble. Did we really need to shoehorn another "Deb/excessive use of force" plot in here?
- Oh and one more thing ....
TRISHCA! Hope she's back to give more random beejers. I liked her.
Episode 1 was great and sets up a great season potentially.
My only issue...instead of the slow build like Season 1 or Season 4, they'll rush the Hanks plot into 5 or 6 episodes and the rest of the season will suck dick.
