This article could be summed up in less points about what went wrong with this show...

1. Humanizing Dexter...this covers a ton of shit under the umbrella.
2. Needing the viewer to suspend disbelief that so many people could accept Dexter for being a serial killer when they inevitably found out...and NOT TURN HIM IN!
3. Expanded roles for supporting characters romantically that made no sense.

and even these could be summed up with "the writing got very lazy".
