Lets see them. I need some more ideas of who to download, plus this could turn into a decent debate over who should go where.
*anticipating Dell's list*
Hmmm...hope I can live up to the hype...anyhoo, I'll come back to this after I put some thought into it & would like to see yours...& anyone else's for that matter. This could get interesting.

This is a great thread. No need for youtube links from me as you've heard of all these guys. Let me preface this by telling you that I am far from a backpacker, I don't listen to the radio or anything, but don't really go out of my way to find shit either. I have a discerning taste, despite my underexposure to the legends due to my relatively young age and my middle class early childhood. If this is too mainstream, or too contemporary, or too southern, sue me, I'm a product of my generation. Anyway, onto my list....
10. Ludacris- The Dan Marino of rap, this guy kills certain songs, murders endless amounts of features, and like Marino, produced eye-popping numbers. His undeniable talent shines through every time out, however Luda never reached the pinnacle of his craft. His best two albums were his first two, and he never got near a classic again.
9. Big Boi(OutKast)- A beast in his early days, who has drifted a bit into complacency as a veteran. His shit is still funky, and he still spits that real shit, but when I listen to him now I can't help but think his flow is the same on every single track. He's still top ten for his sublime body of work.
8. Eminem- If I would have made this list in 1999, he'd easily be my choice. I was as devoted a stan as there was, buying each album on release date. He fell off so hard in my opinion that it's hard to listen to his old stuff, but whenever I do I feel so rewarded. Those first three albums are incredible.
7. Tupac Shakur- Honestly, Tupac has done more for me as an actor than his music ever did. His work as the menacing Bishop in Juice was mesmerizing, but this isn't a movie thread. His rapping was also great, but more so for his incredible presence and the emotion behind his writing than his technical mic skills. I was only 10 years old when he was killed, so I can only judge him in retrospect. For that reason, it's very hard for me to rate him.
6.Lupe Fiasco- A new buck who only has room to grow. If he stops after LupEND, I'll be like Cartman at the water park: "noooo"
5.Joe Budden- Who else brings it this raw every time out? Hands down the most emotionally honest and self aware rapper on this list, he's also one of my personal favorites. Skills wise, he stands up nicely with 99% of all rappers, but it's what "Buddenz" puts into his rhymes that really sold me on him. I acknowledge his 'woe is me' tales can get a bit one note, and his ear for beats hasn't seemed to evolve all that much. To that I say, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Every mixtape he's dropped since Mood Muzik has had tremendous replay value. Does a primarily mixtape rapper deserve to be top 5 on anybody's list? That's for you to decide. I already have. I'm not on Budden.com, but I'm still saying "Joey keep doin' it."
4. T.I.- The foil to Luda, Tip Harris is best viewed in a wide spectrum. If you catch him on just one individual song, it better be the right one, or you'll initially be turned off. But when you dig deeper into his catalog, and give an entire album consistent spins, his watery flow grows on you like a fungus. And god bless the track if it's produced by DJ Toomp, whose beats TI has has been known to absolutely body. "What You Know About That" was arguably the catchiest street song, or the streetest pop song if that's how you choose to look at it, of the 2000s, and in many ways is a microcosm of his career. Highly listenable, yet distinctively gutter. Somehow he brought glamor to the Trap lifestyle.
3a. Nas- Started out as a force of nature in the mid 90s, then leveled off and bit towards the end of the decade, only to round his career back nicely in the early 2000s. With classics like Illmatic, (arguably the greatest debut album of all time) and one of my personal favorites, Hip Hop is Dead, Nas' has given us pages and pages of disgustingly poetic lyrics.
3b. Jay- Z- If this is a copout, sue me. I'm leaving Jigga and Nas tied. I can't decide which is better, Illmatic or Reasonable Doubt. I just know that I love both of those albums and I love both of these rappers.
2. Notorious BIG- Juicy is and forever will be my all time favorite rap song. Biggie just brought that pure joy on any song he jumped on. He made listening to rap cool for a lot of people. Despite his often bleak subject matter, he managed to crossover and reach people who otherwise would never be able to relate.
1. Andre 3000(OutKast)- I said I didn't need youtube links, I lied. There's nothing I can say about this man that he hasn't already told you. I present to you, my favorite emcee of all time:

The whole of Nappy Roots.
Yeah I'm not really going to do this... I have trouble making top 10 lists for artists because it's all about moods. I could make one top 10 lists, then 5 minutes later make another with a few different choices.

Z-Ro
Tupac
Biggie
K-Rino
Prodigy (In His Prime during his HNIC album and Before)
