Was listening to Kate Bush's latest album "The Director's Cut" and wanted to puke. Why did she ruin such great songs? So I just put this album on and my rage went away.
I have no clue what the fuck Kate was thinking releasing "The Director's Cut". It sucks.

I haven't plucked up the courage to listen to 'The Director's Cut' yet. I bought the vinyl and the 3 CD edition on the day of release but they're both just sat on the shelf at the moment.

I have never been the biggest fan of 'The Sensual World' or 'The Red Shoes' anyway so the idea of her reworking those songs didn't really inspire me in the first place but since I heard that she'd autotuned 'Deeper Understanding' - which is probably my least favourite KB song - I have actually been dreading listening to the album.

Still, it took me months before I listened to 'Aerial' after I bought it because I was shit scared that after all the build up it would be a disappointment. Eventually the first disc was decent but the second was excellent.

I'll give my thoughts on TDC in about October when I finally listen to it.

'The Sensual World' is much better than 'The Red Shoes' but I think my main problem with it is that is was Kate's first "grown up" album. She started down that path on 'Hounds of Love' but there was still plenty of the wanton, uninhibited creativity - particularly on the second side - that made the first four albums so unique.

'The Sensual World', while a good album in its own right, lacks the "mad-as-a-box-of-frogs" angle of her earlier work. It's a bit restrained and that makes it difficult for me to latch on to. It's the kind of album someone would make after hanging around with Peter Gabriel in the 1980s rather than listening to Peter Gabriel in the 1970s.

I'm a huge fan of 'The Dreaming' though, so anything that comes afterwards is going to sound a bit pedestrian to these ears.
