Obviously the cost will drop but they'll lose their uniqueness as they will get played out.

When it's all said and done, movies must relate to people and contain an element that people can connect with. There will always be a huge fantasy/sci-fi category and there should be, but they'll never be able to replace the authenticity of real life film.

I am not quite sure what you are arguing...

My point was that this film will open the flood gates for many other films to use this technology...as the cost lowers, you'll see it more and more...the quality of film will probably be low as the catch is the 3D and not the actual film.

Not arguing anything really. I think 3d films were inevitable, AVATAR is just the first of many. if it wasn't AVATAR it was going to be something else.

quality of film won't change. quality of film is already shit for the most part, with maybe 10 good to great major motion films coming out every year. that'll stay the same.

are you saying you think we're going to be seeing a ton of more 3d films soon? i don't really think so. i think people are visually captivated by avatar right now but the effects will lose their flair. people aren't going to be excited about seeing 3d films just because they are in 3d in the future. it may become a fad for a year or two but in the long run they'll be phased out or will just be low budget shitty movies that don't receive much attention.

They are already putting out a lot of 3D movies. Every animated movie that has come out recently has been in 3D. They are continuing the trend with making the next Shrek movie 3D. I already saw an example of a bad 3D movie about to come out in one of the trailers before AVATAR. Some movie called Piranhas 3D.

yea that was dumb. The 3D craze will die down eventually.

Went out and saw it at the mall this afternoon; very cool flick with some awesome ideas (the link-up system the natives had was neat, the EXO suits cribbed straight from "Aliens," etc.)...

                  Very recommendable.

Also, I got a weird "Ferngully" vibe with the whole forest/stripmining debate.

A lot of it is. Some parts are hard to tell though.

Yes...a lot of them...studios will see this as a cash cow and could turn run of the mill films into something extra, just because of the 3D...resulting in an over saturation of these types of films in the market, thus sullying their appeal and a market filled with just bad films with this little catch.

It is just a normal for Hollywood...they see something succeeding, everyone will copycat.

also you have to remember that 3D tickets are more when you go to the movies so it requires less tickets sold to get to your profit line. Plus 3D films get torrented far less, because whats the fucking point its not gonna be in 3D
