An Ode to My Favorite Rapper of All Time

When you're talking about an all around complete rapper nobody can do it better than Andre IMO. There's nothing he hasn't done nearly to perfection.

You like the old school gangsta rap? He has it with songs like "Ain't No Thang" "Crumblin Erb" "Git up, Get out, Get Something"
You like more modern serious rap? He also has that with songs like "Aquemini" "Rosa Parks" Bombs Over Baghdad".
If that's still not enough for you he even has songs for the pop charts like "Hey Ya" "Ms. Jackson" "So Fresh So Clean". His pop songs are good without selling out and talking about diamonds or ho's. IMO Hey Ya is the best non-techno dance song of the decade.
Hell even if you're into the Punchline rap that's on the radio now a days some of his punchlines from the early 90's(when it wasn't even popular) shit on anything Wayne has.
Not to mention his music on ATLiens which should have it's own category.

But the thing I admire most about Andre is his longevity. Over the years Goats like Jay-Z have eventually put out garbage like the BP3. Eminem....The Relapse. Kanye.....808's. Nas hasn't put out complete crap but his music is nowhere to the level it was at the beginning of his career.
That's the thing that seperates him from other G.O.A.T's IMO. Pick 10 random Andre songs and you're not gonna find any crap. Take 10 random Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye songs and there's a chance you'll have atleast 1 horrible song.
Andre's latest music in his career is just as good as the music he had when he first hit the scene.
It doesn't get too much better than his verse on "International Players Anthem". And that's when he was just messing around not even talking about a real important subject.
Or even the songs on that little mixtape he had in 07

    Da Art of Storytelling 4-
"She said, Why you in the club, you don't make it precipitate?
You know, make it rain when you can make it thunderstorm
    I'm like, Why?
    The world needs sun
    The hood needs funds
There's a war going on and half the battle is guns
How dare I throw it on the floor
    When people are poor
So I write like Edgar Allen to restore, got a cord-
Umbilical attached to a place that can't afford
    No landscaping, Or window draping
    This old lady told me,
If I ain't got nothin' good, say nathing
    That's why I don't talk much"

    3000 Something-
    "I was a young lad of 17
my life was yet to show it's ugly face
    only a pretty facade
    hey God it's me
    remember me 3000?
The one that use to pray to be a rapper
my child in the 3rd grade
his favorite rapper wasn't rapping till he heard me
    I wasn't rapping till I heard a somethingcalled Eric B.
    and Rakim paid in full"

This the song of his I've been jamming the most lately.
His verse at 5:30 is one of my favorites of his.

I can go on forever posting his verses that are near perfection....

Andre 3K is definitely tight. The thing I hate is how everybody falls all over themselves giving him credit and never mention Big Boi who is pretty damn good in his own right. After all, Andre didn't make all those songs by himself.

he's a top talent, no doubt...

but unfortunatly, when I think of Andre 3000...the 1st thing that comes to mind are the sellout years...

Houston is dropping knowledge here and I still find ways cringe when I read his posts.

As probably the biggest OutKast fanboy on this site, I agree. But Big Boi's flow has fallen off so hard post Stankonia.

Hearing recent work from Big Boi, with a few exceptions, his flow just comes across as repetitive, uninteresting and lazy now.

Also, the amount of Andre hype has sort of resulted from the rebirth he's seen in recent years, ripping up guest appearance after guest appearance.

When Love Below/Speakerboxx came out, everyone went into "wish Andre would still rap" mode...then he came back even harder, Meanwhile, Big Boi has kept to what he does best, but not as well as he used to.

That, plus the 'Dre's the poet and Big Boi's the hustler' dynamic, helps feed the perception that Andre was/is lightyears better than his partner.
