Most Anticipated Movies of the 1st Quarter (Jan-Mar)

Buzzmans Most Anticipated Movies of the First Quarter

    #11 Edge of Darkness

This movie has Taken written all over it, the only difference being the father is out for revenge for the death of his daughter rather then the kidnapping, but why is that a bad thing. Taken was a good but not great movie. This movie however features Mel Gibson, who’s starring in his first film since Signs. I’m excited to see him back because generally I found most of his movies entertaining; One of my favorites being Payback and I’m getting that type of movie vibe off the trailers.

    #10 The Wolfman

Benicio Del Toro seemed like he was born to play a werewolf. Every time I look at him Im just waiting for him to turn into one. So naturally, when he was cast as the Wolfman in the movie, it got me excited. Signs though, point to this being a downer with all the delays and reshoots but the trailers have been good enough for me to give it a chance. Im also confused why the would delay it from Oct to a Feb, you’d think it’d have more appeal in the latter month.

    #9 The Crazies

Ive never seen the original, but I love me some maniac movies. The first trailer got me really excited with the moral decision and how a town slowly becomes infected but the sweet tune “Mad World” but the 2nd trailer showed some shit that could be wrong with the movie so it went lower on my list, but how the hell am I supposed to leave a movie full of maniacs trying to kill people off the list.

    #8 Legion

Everything about the red band trailer got my attention, plus Ive always liked Paul Bettany’s work. The plot to the movie seems very controversial but because im not a religious man, I could care less. I just want to see some Angels get there ass blown to pieces.

    #7 The Lovely Bones

This movie got delayed to try and miss out on the Christmas craze of all the other movies, but rumors of the film not being up to Peter Jacksons standards has lowered my anticipation for it, but im still anticipating it to say the least.

    #6 Clash of the Titans

I haven’t seen the original but with how bad the special effects have aged, I’ll definitely settle for the remake. I’ve always been a fan of mythology and the gods; Spent too much of my free time reading books about them, but to see them on screen in what appears to be a good representation of them is something you cant pass up. Plus it stars Sam Worthington, so you have to see it to give the man another blockbuster picture that he has starred in.

    #5 Alice in Wonderland

When talking with people about upcoming movies, many of them say Alice In Wonderland is the one there most excited about. With Tim Burton directing and Johnny Depp starring, you can understand why, but I just cant get the picture of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory out of my head. So while im still excited to see this movie, the thought that it could be disappointing is in the back of my mind.

    #4 Daybreakers

The vampire craze hasn’t died down. Seems like a new one is made every few months, but this one might be different. The overall tone of the movie feels different. There much darker then the shit released right now. Plus it seems like its been forever since you seen vampires actually hunt down and kill humans. When the fuck did they become so nice. Daybreakers has the potential to be a good one, but at the same time lay an egg. We’ll some what happens when it comes out next week.

#3 I Love You, Phillip Morris

Jim Carrey needs to be funny again. He hasn’t been in years, but this movie seems like it might be exactly what he needs. The trailers all look funny and he seems to be in the funny mode. Hopefully its not just another “gay” comedy.

    #2 Green Zone

Another Bourne movie may or might not happen, but in the meantime you could just watch this movie which looks like a spinoff from the series. Matt Damon is once again a badass trying to stop nuclear weapons from reaching the wrong hands, Jason Bourne style. But the series was kick ass, so who cares if it borrows from it.

    #1 Shutter Island

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Decaprio team up in a thriller set on an island that features and insane asylum. What else needs to be said?

Honorable Mentions: Cop Out | Youth in Revolt | The Book of Eli | How To Train Your Dragon | Dear John

never heard of shutter island, or any of these except clash if the titans. shutter island would be a must see with martin and leo being involved.

i loved the original clash of the titans, but i am guessing this remake will be a failed attempt full of a bunch of sci fi effects

you've never heard of Shutter Island? It was my most anticipated movie last year but they pushed it back from Oct to Feb. I was pissed, but if it helped the movie im all for it.

damn, I go to the movies every weekend. It helps though when going to the movies cost as much as renting a movie.

Nice. Clash of the Titans was hokey fun the first time around, I'm extremely interested to see how the remake turns out.

Pumped about the possibilities of Alice in Wonderland.

And if it were my list, I absolutely would've found a spot for The Book of Eli.

Thought Legion would be higher. Also really want to see The Crazies since it was filmed in Iowa.

Legion looks like it will be sweet, but maybe if I knew more about the history of what its trying to show, it'd be higher.

The Book of Eli has been a very under the radar movie for me. Ive only saw the trailer twice and havent looked into it all, so naturally it didnt make my list, but im sure with Denzel it could be great.

You must not watch football/ESPN. I see Book of Eli trailers all the time.

the Wolfman, even with it's awesome cast, looks kind of terrible. The CGI makes it look like Van Helsing 2, but to each his own.

Other than that, I don't disagree with your list. The Green Zone, Shutter Island, and the Edge of Darkness look pretty awesome. Good to see Mel back doing what he does best (and I don't mean Jew hating).

As mentioned, Book of Eli and Youth in Revolt are worth mentioning as well. Denzel + Gary Oldman + Mila Kunis + Post-apocalyptic action = I'm there.

also considering this is the only time of the year worse than September for movies, there are a lot of movies that actually look pretty decent. 2010 is going to blow 2009 out of the water. 2009 was such a weak year for movies.
