AVI files

For some reason, some of the movies I've downloaded (the file isn't corrupted or anything; they've completely downloaded) won't play on Windows Media Player or QuickTime... Suggestions? These are '.avi' files that aren't working... For some reason.

Any help or insight would be helpful. Are there other programs y'all use?

hmm won't play at all, and no codecs errors? trying downloading the divx player and see if that works, sometimes they just don't work for me too though... DivX - Download DivX software & find devices that play DivX video | DivX.com

Yea, Im sure its the codecs and why are you using WM player? Download VLC Player and/or Media Player Classic and that should solve your problems.

VLC player is the best out there at the moment... its also free

yea i didn't know about vlc, divx is free and handles pretty well everything I throw at it, gotta remember to try out vlc...

I haven't run into a video file that VLC can't handle. It's definitely a necessity if you download DRM-free movies/shows.

i'll echo the other sentiments and say dont use any player but VLC its the best out IMO

If you still want to use Windows Media Player then you should look at grabbing some Codec packs. I'm assuming thats what your problem is.

VLC is the only media player anyone should use. It plays everything. Keep WMP around for sharing to your 360 or ps3, but if your watching on your PC then VLC

Ya. WMP always says "Codec found", but then it just plays the audio track to the movie with the MP3 symbol as the screen...

Ya, I can't get VLC to download for some reason, so I've got DivX coming.

EDIT: FUCK YA!!!!! I've got Religulous AND Resevoir Dogs working on WMP since I have DivX. Time to download Jackie Brown. THANKS TO ALL YOU GUYS!
