Nearly every movie relates to you in someway or form, you just have to catch it.
You can't relate to Avatar, Up, District 9, Star Trek, etc. like you can relate it to The Hurt Locker for pretty obvious reasons.

    1) Those movies weren't real. They were completely fictional.

    2) I understand the concept of being able to relate societal themes within the movie, but you cannot put yourself in the shoes of an individual characters in the movies mentioned above. You can literally put yourself in the shoes of the guys in The Hurt Locker.

    3) There is no real remorse or fear felt for the characters in the movies mentioned for the same reasons as number 2. You cannot identify with the fear that the Navi in Avatar had, or the old man in Up, or Wikis in D9 because again, their stories are completely fictional and outside the realm of possibility.

Sidenote - Did you burst out laughing when Steve Martin introduced Meryl Streep as "the most nominated actor of all time"?

No but I did when he said working with Latifah was the best time she's ever had.

I didn't take this year seriously when Crazy Heart didn't get nominated. You can argue that Bridges performance carried Crazy Heart, but the same can be said for Bullock in The Blind Side. Crazy Heart is also a better overall movie than Avatar (which I liked a lot.)

2009 was weak as fuck to begin with... I can't wait for 2010 to start putting out the good shit, like Liam Neeson in ''The A-Team.''

Nuk, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but I think you are.

Personally, I think the A-Team looks like it is going to be pretty good.

A Beautiful Mind's been all over Starz for some reason, I recorded it can't wait to watch. Haven't seen it in years

                  Sarcasm.

I have this thing about remaking something that was either classic, or shitty. ''The A-Team,'' as a series, can pretty much fall into either category, just depends on your taste. Personally, I'm an A-Team fan, so I'm against remaking it for a couple reasons, but mainly the following...

George might not have been the greatest actor in the world, not even close, but there's one role he did, that will never be matched by any actor, not even a guy like Liam Neeson - and that's John Smith. You can try to replace Mr. T, Mad Murdock, and Peck, but good luck trying to find a guy to replace what George Peppard did as ''Hannibal.'' Not all people are like me, so I'm sure it's going to have a fanbase - I just won't watch it. It may seem like a stupid reason, that's just how I am.

So you're not even going to give it a chance?

At least watch the trailer, you owe Liam Neeson at least that much for his performance in your beloved Taken.

I still think ti was funny how you named all those actors and Meryl Streep was just punched in the middle like you were implying she was a man. Dont understand how thats not funny.

Tailback, since you like movies that you can relate to and put yourself ni there shoes easily, you ever seen the very underrated Revolutionary Road?

Yes. Revolutionary Road was a good film. Great acting, storyline was a tad plain. Powerful, but a bit too straightforward and plain, predictable, and repetitive for me to call great.

A great film has to be more than just something I can relate to. The storyline has to be entertaining, thought provoking, and something where I can immerse myself into each situation.

Revolutionary Road was good, it reminded me a little bit of American Beauty, which is still one of my favorite movies ever.

Should tell you what I think about 99% of the female actors today.

Revolutionary Road is decent. However, if I wanted to watch parents fight, I'd watch my own. If I wanted to hear about stories of parents fighting from the 50s, I'd ask my parents.

                                AB is fucking great, though.
