I disagree. Are you saying you have to beat around the bush to be great? I happen to think his blunt depiction of his life was endearing. Much like Hemingway's terse prose made him a great writer.
Scarface was also very straight forward, and he's arguably the best ever from the South region. You don't have to be complex to say meaningful shit, IMO.Comment

I just think using shit like complex metaphors that make you think more is better. Biggie is great but I love it when I don't truly get a song after the first listen. Not trying to be a homer but that's how I feel about most verse's from my favorite rapper(Andre). So many times I've heard a verse for the first time by him and I've gone back 3 and 4 times and just when I finally think I get it a week later listening to the song it really hits me.
Biggie was great and one of the best at his style of rap but that's not the type I like the best.
Probably a bad comparison but for instance you may get me to admit that ___ is the best country singer ever but I will never call them one of my favorite artist because I don't enjoy country.
Just my opinion...Comment

Nah I'm not dissing the style, one of my favorite songs is "Paid in Full" and I love how it's so simple and straight forward.
