This movie was strange. It was like they got a bunch of actors together and mixed their past movies together. They got Don Cheadle and stole a lot of things from Crash. They got Omar/Weebay/Clay Davis from The Wire and mixed in a elements from that show. I thought Wesley Snipes was in jail but he was there too, and the move had a slight New Jack City feel.
There were a lot of "big" names, and you'd think a movie that mixed together The Wire / Crash / New Jack City would have potential but the movie was average. This was supposed to be some gritty, realistic cop drama but it was 2 hours of people getting shot up and coughing up blood. Just a bunch of cliches and storylines I'd seen before mixed together into one movie.
The ending sucked because they tried way too hard to be like Crash and tie Hawke's, Cheadle's and Gere's storylines together. There was also a really annoying symbolic scene where a character dies and his blood gets on the money, it's supposed to be some deep lesson about "blood money" or something. The best scene was when they showed a prostitute cleaning her vag out, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Overall it was an average movie, and I enjoyed some things about it. Decent idea but the execution wasn't very good.
Brooklyn's Finest was not near as good as I thought. I wanted to see this movie super bad since the first advertisement I seen on it. I wanted to see this more than Notorious, and I went and paid to see that. I got it for free and out of five stars I give it two of them. The plot was all mixed up and I never even seen the real "story" in this besides the younger white cop needed a new house because the mold in the house was fucking with his pregnant girlfriend's Asthma, and Tango needed to set up his fresh outta jail buddy that saved his life so he could get a promotion. I didn't see how they were linked at all. That fucking song in the commercials built up all of the hype for this, don't pay the money to go and see this.
