However,,,,, Woy you hear Cory Gunz at all, dude spits flames
Yeah, I heard Gunz on A Milli with Wayne. I have a few songs of his on my iTunes, but I'm not really a fan.

Maybe if I have time...I've always been interested in The Roots.

Yeah, I agree that my ratings are too high. I think a disadvantage to my ratings is that I love, I mean love, a lot of music. So if I'm feeling a song, then I'll want to give it a 3.5 right off the bat, no matter how "good" or "bad" it is.

If I went through my ratings again, I'd definitely adjust some stuff. I'm rating not exactly on first impressions, but on like fifth or sixth.

Right now I plan on reviewing either More Than Nothing (Wale) or Str8 Killa No Filla (Freddie Gibbs) next.

        That's a great quote, but I prefer:

"Assassin's bullets might be waiting for Obama./Do you think they'll have a brother before Billy's baby mama?"

lmao. The whole thing is awesome.

I'm curious about Sam Adams, but I think I'm gonna let it go. Wikipedia said he's a descendant of John Q. Adams (and thereby his dad John Adams)... And that he's a good soccer player.

That's all good and nice, but the label 'pop rapper' doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. When I just want shit to bob my head to, I look for Lil Jon. I hear the Asher Roth crowd (including my amigo Sean) really dig the I Hate College remix song.
Yeah that may be my favorite. I love this cd.

Do you plan on re-doing the ratings? To give a more accurate picture of your perception of the music?

You do a great job with this. Thought you were a little high on Sam Adams but that's mostly because his stuff wore out on me pretty fast. I end up skipping the songs when they come up on my ipod.

Maybe at the end of the year, it'd make sense to do it then I'd think.

I know you don't review mixtapes, but you need to listen to Kush & Orange Juice. I just listened to the whole thing. The skits are pretty funny, I mean, not Lucious Left Foot quality, but they're nice. Wiz Khalifa.

It's a stoner album, obviously, but I like it. He sounds nicer than Cudi, and slower than Wayne. Really fucking dig it.

I'm actually going to start reviewing some mixtapes, like Wale's new one coming out soon.

And I have all of Wiz's discography, lol. Kush & Orange Juice was nice, but I'm partial to Burn After Rolling and Flight School over it. His best work IMO comes out of his debut album, Show and Prove.

Kush and Orange Juice came out in like April or May didn't it? And B.A.R. is the hottest tape he has put out I think. Can't count the times i blazed to that shit. And I still do almost daily lol

More About Nothing review will be up sometime this week hopefully. Going to try a slightly different approach in how I set up the review; mainly to help me from not burning out with so much music coming out soon.

I'll also give some brief reviews on earlier released projects (i.e. B.o.B's album, Wiz Khalifa's mixtape) soon.

Front page updated with projects I plan on reviewing in the future.

                          More About Nothing - Wale

                          Image

It's been a while since we've heard Wale's name in the hip-hop scene. His debut album Attention Deficit released almost a year ago, and although disappointing - J. Cole's verse on Beautiful Bliss was the highlight - it was still a decent listen but had fans wanting more.

Now after an absence, he has released a "sequel" of sorts to A Mixtape About Nothing; which is, in my opinion, an absolute masterpiece and one of the best mixtapes I've ever heard. When it was announced, More About Nothing jumped into the top of my most anticipated projects for the rest of the year.

By the way, if you didn't know, Wale went to (my future alma mater) Robert Morris University for a year, running track and playing football. I just felt the need to brag.

                          1.) The Problem - 3.5/5
                          2.) The MC - 4/5
                          3.) The Soup - 4.5/5
                          - Stethoscope line is fire. "This is More About Nothing, I'm the f***ing show."
4.) The Breeze (Cool) ft. Wiz Khalifa & Tré of UCB - 5/5
                          - Finally Wiz and Wale do a track together. I love Khalifa on the hook.
5.) The Friends N Strangers ft. Tré of UCB - 4.5/5
                          6.) The Numbers Won (Competition) - 4.5/5
7.) The Eyes of the Tiger - 4.5/5
8.) The War ft. Daniel Merriweather - 5/5
                          - I'm glad I gave this a few more listens before the review...definitely changed my thoughts on it.
                          9.) The Break Up Song - 5/5
                          - This song really shows the smoothness of Wale's flow. The first 40 seconds throw you around for a loop though.
                          10.) The Work (Workin') - 3/5
11.) The Black N Gold ft. Sam Sparro - 4.5/5
                          12.) The Manipulation Pt. 2 - 4/5
                          13.) KD Interlude - 2.5/5
                          - Wasn't necessary, but I can see why Wale gave Kevin Durant a shoutout.
14.) The Posse Cut (Who Don't) ft. Fat Trel & Black Cobain - 4/5
15.) The Guilty Pleasure (No Hands) ft. Waka Flocka Flame & Roscoe Dash - 4/5
                          - Waka Flocka Flame should fall off a cliff.
                          16.) The Trip (Downtown) - 4.5/5
                          17.) The Ambitious Girl - 5/5
                          - Wale's exactly right; a girl with drive is extremely sexy.
18.) The Motivation (Be Right) ft. Dre from Cool & Dre - 4/5
19.) The Cloud ft. Tiara Thomas - 3.5/5
20.) The Power ft. Avery Storm - 4.5/5
                          - I haven't heard Avery Storm since Nelly's Sweatsuit album.
21.) The Get Away (Fly Away) ft. Northeast Groovers - 3.5/5

                          Overall Grade: 4.2/5

Like I said earlier, I thought A Mixtape About Nothing was a masterpiece. However, I have to say that although the previous tape was maybe a more complete project, this is a more enjoyable listen. There are many highlights - The Breeze, The War, The Break Up Song, The Ambitious Girl - and the stretch from The Soup to The War is one of the best sequences of tracks I've heard all year.

With so many good mixtapes out this year, it's pretty impressive when I say that this is the best out of the group. (Albeit, I think Mood Muzik 4 will give him a run for his money.) The Seinfield theme never gets old to me and Wale gives you a variety of different themes that can appeal to different tastes.

Now Wale just needs to come to RMU again for a concert.

Meh, don't quite agree with More About Nothing. Then again, I think Wale's emotionless and is just forced as fuck when rapping on a lot of songs. Only natural songs are songs like Breakdown, Sweatin Out Weaves, Night Life, Pretty Girls; etc, songs that boast "Swag". Anything else, and I feel like he's forcing it. Even though I liked Break Up Song and Eyes of the Tiger.
