Good shit, I loved American Beauty and Jarhead. Hopefully this is better than Quantum of Solace, which I thought was very average compared to Casino Royale.

I agree. QoS was a pretty big disappointment since Casino Royale is a personal favorite of mine.
Sam Mendes knows how to direct a movie, but an action movie? Who knows what he can do with it. I'm as interested as I am excited. I am also glad they're fast tracking this movie to start in June and be ready for 2011.
American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, and Revolutionary Road are all great. Im stoked. QofS wasnt as bad as everyone says. Most people didnt get the connections between the two movies, but QofS also had to live up to the hype that Casino Royale created.
As a huge James Bond fan, this news depresses the hell out of me. According to the Mirror, the newest chapter in the spy series has been shut down due to MGM’s ongoing financial woes. The studio, which has been home to 007 since the beginning, is drowning in debt and in need of a life preserver. Sadly, no one is coming to their rescue. Daniel Craig will likely never driving an Aston Martin again, at least for a salary. Depressing.
The as of yet untitled Bond 23 was to be directed by Sam Mendes, but it’s likely he’ll pursue other projects since the flick is in limbo. Too bad. It would have been interesting to see how someone of Mendes’ talents would approach the Bond universe.
So, for now, the franchise is dead. As are all of MGM’s properties, including the much discussed The Hobbit, which is suffering from its own set of delays and problems. Perhaps some kind soul with a heart of gold and a bank account to match will ride in on white steed to save the day. But until that day comes, we’re all left to wonder.
I dig Craig as Bond and was eager to see how he tackled the role his third time out. Casino Royale was brilliant, while Quantum of Solace fell a bit flat. Word is it could be years before 007 resurfaces. Ugh. I need a drink. Shaken, not stirred, of course.
LOS ANGELES – James Bond finally is getting back into action.
The new management at MGM, along with Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced Tuesday that the 23rd film in the spy franchise will arrive in theaters Nov. 9, 2012.
That will mark a four-year hiatus for Bond since his last adventure, 2008's "Quantum of Solace." The franchise had been on hold amid MGM's financial troubles, with the company now trying to start over after filing for bankruptcy protection and restructuring last November.
Daniel Craig returns for his third outing as British super-spy Bond. Sam Mendes ("American Beauty," "Road to Perdition") is directing, with production expected to start late in 2011.
