boring episode, but lots of 'setting of the stage' being done, so I can live with it

Wow... way to kill the momentum from the last 3 weeks
Gyp Rosetti's name being dropped was the best part of this episode. If he's not in every episode until his death they're doing it wrong.Comment

I don't know, I kind of appreciated them taking a step back from Rosetti and allowing the rest of the players to have their stories built (excluding Margaret of course). As great as Gyp is, if you focus too much attention on the "big bad" at the expense of the rest of the story, well, you're veering dangerously into Dexter territory.Comment

If you focus too much of attention to the "big bad" and it causes the rest of the story to suffer, well, you're veering dangerously into Dexter territory.
There has to be some kind of balance IMO... This episode had no feel of action rising at any point except for the part I mentioned earlier where it was hinted at that Gyp might have made a move to burn the Schroders to the ground and save us their pointless screen time.Comment

I understand the thing with the AG but I could care less about Margaret fucking Owen again (if she winds up getting him killed I'll be pissed) or Jimmy's mom fucking his totally dull lookalike but not without some pointless platitudes about dreams I almost fell asleep during, which I felt made up the majority of the episode.Comment

Yeah I don't give a shit about either storyline myself, not how I would have used the extra runtime, but I did understand the need to de-emphasize Gyp for a minute to allow some other characters time to breathe. The problem with this show is the allotment of screen time is all out of wack. We need more of the interesting characters and less of the non-interesting ones, but the main protagonists all fall in the latter category. Nucky and Margaret are at the center of the story, and maybe that's the problem. They are not interesting, nor are the conflicts they are encountering. Viewers would much rather catch up with Capone, Richard, Chalky, Owen, Meyer, etc. every week.
I don't know if I remember a scene he was in besides where they made the gay actor perform for them. Serious under-utilization of your talent right there.Comment

He had the family story way back in episode 2, where he was trying to convince his daughter to give her hand to the light skinned boy. That was 6 weeks ago though. Gotta keep us up to date on this newfangled sex education program at the hospital, amirite?Comment

I was dying at Gyp interacting with his over the top stereotypical italian family. They clearly don't take his shit and are probably the reason he beats up priests and kills 40% of the people he encounters.Comment
