So Nucky will be pitted against AR and Masseria and Luciano/Meyer will join up with Nucky.

Great finale. Gyp went out with a whimper, but I think it is fitting he died with his hand on his dick and someone behind him. Seemed to be his MO.

I was clapping and giggling and cheering like a little boy during Richard's big moment. Damn he handled his shit like a G. Glad he made it out unscathed but I worry about what will become of him now that the one thing he had left to live for has been resolved.

I wonder if that will be the end of Harrow too. Doubtful considering how much of a favorite he is, but he did all that he wanted to accomplish. He could easily fill a role though. I wanted Gyp to make it into next season, but it was pretty clearly not going to happen when he had four men left. Great episode for Nucky.

I wanted Gyp to last for more than one season because as awesome of a character as he was, the whole one season villain thing just didn't sit right with me. It sort of cheapens his effect I guess. If he lives, even if he wasn't shown on the show, you still have the card to play. He'd be in the back of people's minds the whole time, maybe he comes back, maybe he actually lost it and thats that and he is now some crazy dude hiding in the woods.

Pretty good articles about the end of season 3 and bits of what might happen in season 4.

Everyone seems to think Gyp went out unfairly. He did go out with a whimper, yes, but think about him for a second. He was a nobody, he was nothing until Masseria backed his game. Well, Gyp thought he was the king...until he wasn't. Why wasn't he, after all he did to "win", the king? Because he didn't play the game. He didn't understand all the politics that surrounded the business...and he ended up losing everything because of his brashness.

Nucky is basically clean at this point. With his new behind the scenes persona, he can do what is necessary to run his business with the ruthlessness he'd been lacking for years.

The worst way Gyp could have died was by the few people he thought he KNEW he'd be able to control. I thought it was fitting albeit a bit disappointing.

I actually liked how Gyp went out. It seemed fitting. While it might make better drama to have a key character go out in a blaze of glory or a taken down in a moment of glorious revenge, the violent deaths of gangsters are often anything but. Unlike what the gangster flicks tell, its not usually your best friend who does it. There are tons of examples of famous real gangsters who had rather ignominious deaths, including some represented in the show. The show obviously isn't historically accurate but I like when it picks up realistic elements. And that feels realistic to me.

This is true. I don't think anyone will argue it wasn't a fitting death, just a rather underwhelming one from a fan service perspective. For Game of Thrones fans, it reminds me of (season 1)

They didn't show her living or dying, but Winter confirmed in an interview she's still alive.

Aye but if she's alive this gives Harrow a reason to still be in the show, so that could be good news. With that said, I thought it would have been a solid ending to the whole first two series if Gillian was dead, and Tommy was taken care of. I figured the whole reason for Gillian telling Nucky about the Commodore raping her was for that very purpose but oh well.

She made it to the hallway somehow. Nucky and Eli walked by her as they were looking for Gyp and she babbled some nonsense about him giving her to the Commodore. Like Brohouse said, Terence Winter confirmed she is still alive.
