Hank was truly the only one who never really "broke bad." He had his moments of assholishness, but that didn't keep him from always being a stand up guy and a true agent of the law. To the very end, he couldn't be bought or made to beg.

Hank is and was the moral compass of the show.

The death of Hank is symbolic. The show now no longer has a moral compass...what is going to go down in the final two episodes will throw out any concept of what is wrong and what is right...and that is going to be the beauty of the show...it is going to leave the audience as the ultimate decider of what is wrong and what is right the rest of the way.

Now, now....you need to put yourself in Jr.'s place. His ENTIRE UNIVERSE JUST IMPLODED. Literally...and in a matter of seconds.

He went from having an A1 day to hearing his father is a drug kingpin under arrest, seeing him scrambling around the house (getting yelled at for the first time in the process), hearing his uncle is dead and then having to break up a KNIFE FIGHT between his parents.
