If you listen to the lyrics it isn't a bad song at all. Has a good message. It just isn't "Lupe" though.

There's the problem. I listen to "Lupe" because he's "Lupe." He's not Kanye, he's not Mos Def, he's Lupe - that's all he's been, that's all he's aspired to be. If he sells-out (and I'm not saying he has or hasn't yet), then the rap game, in my mind, loses a little legitimacy. It would essentially prove the point that you can't be a truly unique artist - not with the way labels try and trick-out their performers.

I still don't understand how - last time I was at Best Buy - they had all of Outkast's albums, and the 10th anniversary edition of Illmatic, but not a single Lupe album. Is Atlantic that much against promoting their performers if they don't do exactly what they want?

Diluting his music to fit the radio-play image is garbage, in my mind.

Lupe likely hasn't sold out but he needs to have some singles like that to please the heads at Atlantic. You'll still see the old Lupe but bottom line is, he's gonna have maybe 1 or 2 more of songs like this lol.
